Track Workouts begin Wednesday, May 14th, 5:30 P.M.

Many thanks to the folks at MDI HS for allowing us to use the track. Make a point of checking with Ian Braun, Kate Goupee, Coach Cake, or Coach Suzanne to see if they could use your help at an upcoming home meet.

cadillac 10k

Sunday am....who's coming? do we have some folks that would provide a warm van, water and sweaters at top? Anyone planning to run down?

I might try it.....

what time is it?

Cadillac 10k..

Rick Hirte posted this last week:

The 15th annual run up Cadillac, held on the first Sunday in May, will take place in just two weeks.

The run will begin at 9 am from the gazebo at the Bar Harbor Village Green. The course is along Mt.Desert St./ Eagle Lake Road for approximately two miles, then onto Paradise Hill to the Base of Cadillac (3.1 miles) and onward to the Summit. Refreshments and transportation back to the Village Green will be provided. Clothing choices should take into account that the temperature atop Cadillac is typically 10 degrees colder and much windier than downtown. But the view is worth it!

This run had its roots as an inter-departmental competition between the Bar Harbor Police and Fire Departments and, later, Acadia National Park Ranger. Its two original founders, Ron Bilancia and Sean Hall, participated in last year's event.

While this is not (and never will be) a sponsored or sanctioned race, and there is no prize money involved, a long tradition of this run is the collecting of a donation ($10) and an awarding of all proceeds to a local charity of the winning runner's choice. Last year, $215 was presented to the Southwest Harbor Animal Shelter.

Plan to join us Sunday morning May 4th.

nice and easy on the mill. Great article, Frank, thanks for the link. I have been thinking of switching my focus to the mile, too. Except that I'd have to grow a ponytail. I've noticed that all milers have ponytails. Why is that?

I have an

opinion on that! CeCelia says her ponytail swaying helps keep her rhythm. :)

For what distance

are French braids the best? That's my favorite way to have my hair, though I need someone else to do them for me. My mom did before every swim meet in high school.

Lately I've been into pigtails. Then I look like a cute little Who! (fine, so we went to see Horton Hears a Who last night, I want to be a Who now)

Middle School Track

We had our first practice of the season and it went very well. I think it is going to be a stellar year for our local middle schoolers.

The high school kids are holding a clinic for our kids this Wednesday and that is always a great day. The high school kids are such great role models, and they do a great job with that clinic. Really looking forward to it!

Rest Day

After the 9+ yesterday, my legs just felt worn out. I'm also running into an issue where the top part of my right foot gets sore. I'm going to loosen my laces a bit on my shoes and see if that helps tomorrow.

Tom

has a way of relacing them that might help. I wish I could explain it...

yup

the the top of my foot hurt too, it was internal. Tom relaced my shoes, taking the pressure off the top of my foot and I've been fine ever since. Heat and rest helped a lot too. Hope it feels better soon. Tom will be at the Cadillac 10k, if you're going he will help you out.

9.3 miles,core

and 10 miles yesterday. Both runs on the mill. The mill deck is a great forgiving surface to get back into some running miles.Kept the incline flat for both runs and within three miles or so the knee feels good and was able to keep pace around 8.5mph with a few surges 9-10mph.Congrats Cake on the win and the huge PR Suzanne. Also sounds like a great summer job Alyie.Suddenly I realize I have not posted in here for a while.Congrats to everyone with everything. Some impressive accomplishments in the club and nice racing all.

tom is a healer

He fixed my perifomis/sciatic issue.
