What's your run?
on treadmill hills averaging 1.5% incline - my poor substitute for missing the Cadillac run. 75 minutes.
I stopped at the grocery store on the way home from the pool. The frozen peas were to ice my shoulder, the pear and the box of strawberries I ate. Yes, we are having shoulder issues again :-( thus the kick set. My legs felt REALLY good for kicking, surprising with the running lately, but I won't complain. I will complain about the shoulder: my stroke felt AMAZING today but rotator cuff pain is not something to mess with.
1500 w/u 5 x [4 x 25 on :30] - build, 1/2 sprint, 3 of alt easy/fast 200 on 2:40 5 x 100 on 1:20 200 on 2:40
kicking: 8 x 100 IM order 10 x 50 on 1:05 alt flutter, whip 10 x 50 on 1:00 alt fly, whip
7 min water running (I didn't want to get out, as usual)
I can dolphin kick almost as fast as I can swim fly but I don't think that's unusual. Dolphin kick is POWERFUL.
He said "Dolphin kick very powerful! But only use for defense, never attack. Wax on, wax off." :) (Hope you get the reference!)
I agree that rotator cuff pain is not something to mess with. I know people in pro baseball who've gotten cuff tears as pitchers...not nice and always required surgery.
No Cadillac run for me either, but ran 8 in the neighborhood and then tossed in a couple more on the ET. I'd like a picture of Shannon, Zoe, & Adria going up Cadillac together. Life is good.
Bob, the picture will make it look better than it was. In real life I'm afraid I was going backwards a couple of times. But it was great fun and I'm happy I got to be a part of it.
10 miles biking for the work commute. It poured on me on the way home, but it was luckily dry on the way there. : )

Rick Hirte
Shannon, you're awesome.
Shannon, Adria, and Zoe ROCK!
to the Cadillac runners!
Baseball practice got canceled (wimps) so now I've got to figure out what I want to do for the next several hours.
today. I was informed by my coach that I may be moved up in the pitching rotation this year so I gotta make sure I'm prepared.
with various pickups in the last miles. I worked very hard to keep the pace easy. Probably my last training run on my beloved lake stretch until after Sugarloaf.....that route has served me well.
didn't have to work very hard to keep things easy:) I had fun running with the various runners heading up Cadillac. I ran a bit with Michele, Tom, Beth, Shannon, Judy, and Jean. Don't worry, Judson, I turned around before I hit the summit. I sprinted back down the mountain, I can barely walk now.
It was pretty cool to have an enthusiastic cheerleader running legs with all of us on our trip up the hill.
thank you. You all made my long run much more enjoyable. Although, it went from fun to boring when I had to turn around. I bet you slept good last night, that was quite a run you had.
Canoe Race yesterday in Houlton and an 18 mile time trial in Freeport today. Will I ever find time to run again???
cycling or paddling?
It was a bike race in Freeport this morning, the first of the season for the Maine Time Trial series. Next Sunday it will be in Rockport, you should give it a try, good speed workout for your triathlon training:)
at the Freeport TT. GO Liddy...
Go girl! :)
Who is Liddy? Is she an Eden runner? I think I met her before the TT race Sunday, she did a great job in the race, fast time. Does she ride a TT bike?
Hubbell doesn't have a TT bike, she rides her (new) Orbea that she adores. She lives here in Bar Harbor and I like to ride with her although she is MUCH stronger than I am. She doesn't run, but sure supports Brian and Nora in their running adventures. Paula, come on down and we'll go round the ParkLoopRoad etc. By the way, have others noticed that quite a few of the island roads are 'awful' (that's polite posting talk) for cycling. I hear the backside is really bad and Crooked Road is very bad too...I'm going to have to find another way to ride to work. Fortunately, the newly paved Park roads are spectacular.
And she supports the running community by providing timing/results at nearly all of our Points Series races, races hosted by other organizations, middle school x-c races (Go Tigers!) and the like..without good timing and results what do you have? Just a lot of chaotic huffin and puffin and sweaty people standing around munching on stale bagels.
she is an enormously talented artist.
Congratulations, Liddy!
...Her own line of action figures
Have you donated (or have you ever considered donating) a piece to the MPBN TV Auction? I hate to just put up a shameless plug for the company I work with, but it's often a great venue to get a local artist's name out.
Again, excellent work. I always admire those with artistic talents.
I've done similar things and would consider it for MPBN. Can you post a link or somethink? And while we're making shameless plugs I'm in a group show at the CourtHouse Gallery (uphill from Rooster Brother) opening May 22. I'll have to miss Cabot this year. And somehow I doubt the opening gala will compare to the party in Baddeck.
http://auction.mpbn.net - all the contact info should be there. This year's auction is already in-progress but I'm sure they'd welcome donations for next year. In any case, they'll be able to provide you with the info that you need.
Not going to Cabot? Who is going to keep an eye on Evan??
women's olympic triathlon trials on TV. Very cool. One thing that always strikes me about watching tri versus running, like the marathon trials - triathletes have SUCH different bodies. We're not skinny runts :D
No Rain but cool and all the runners looked pretty cool on their way up. Shannon did it again pushing the girls to the top. Mark and Michele ran back down. Good to see Ginger giving moral support. First Strider Amanda was a big help as a Volunteer. I guess we shouldn't call her a First Strider at this point. Rick did an Excellent job putting on the run.
Don--Jean
I enjoyed my first run up Cadillac. I kept it steady and aerobic and just kept chugging along. I was amazed at how relaxed I felt throughout the run both up and down--just one of those days when it feels good I guess. And I'm sure I ran a much faster time back down into town. I got a good rhythm going and just rode it all the way home. Ended with 13 miles including the to-and-from my apartment.
Of pain free running! First time in over a month. Yippee! Just a little left knee stiffness the first couple of miles. Stretches, too.
Keep running!
Decided it is time to incorporate some hills into my routine, so I ventured off the towpath for a change. A rude awakening!
Great job, Caddy runners, and a belated congratulations to Tucker on his new PR!
on the mountain. I look forward to seeing some pictures from the ascent. Many thanks to Rick Hirte for organizing the run and to the Eden volunteers.
A few easy miles for me...and a Mr. Miyagi sighting.
91:15 run at 1% incline fartleks throughout 10mph.Feeling good.Nice PR's and racing all.
