Monday, May 5: Daily Log

Hey, Eden

61:46

for 2 x [3 min easy + 5k + 2 min fast]. Tired this morning and the 5ks were 26:38 and 25:08.

1:45

cycling. My legs started to ache and then they just got weak. But, I GOT TAN!!!

Ice bath time.

Ginger

Are you still planning to meet me at Brown Mountain at 8:45? I will be there.

yes

I'll be there.

Rest

Went to bed early last night and with the exception of DeLaney waking up at 4am for a few minutes, had about 11 hours of sleep. I needed it. :)

Hilly run

Ginger and I did the amphitheater loop from the Brown Mountain Gate House. It is hilly, but it is beautiful!

I can meet anyone over there on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Just let me know if you are interested in running some new/different loops and I am there. I promise we won't get lost.

5.2

with Sara and Bozo. Those hills are relentless over there. Sara vowed that she would take me on a less hilly loop next time. Luckily, we ran into Amy P. so we got to stop and talk for a while. I'm excited to have Amy P.(and I hope Shannon) run a 10 mile workout with me on Wed.:)

Hey Shannon, we're starting at 9ish at E.Lake. Hope you can come.

2.2M

on the dreadmill after 10 min. on the bike and 20 min on the elliptical. A great stretching sessiona and an ab/core workout to top it off.

Keep running!

Just 3 Miles

for the day and some weights. We are doing a run at 8:00AM from Eagle Lake on Wednesday--for anyone interested in coming--We don't break any land speed records but we have fun!

14 miles,core

on waterlogged hilly trails and fields with a friend. Was nice to break up the usual routine and run somewhere different and a great workout.Underestimated how soggy the conditions would be and like a true city boy wore road shoes.Despite cleaning they will be an off shade of gray from here on out.

washing machine

is worth a try, if you haven't already. I had a pair of shoes that were all dirty and icky but still good for running - took the insoles out, threw them in the washer and dryer with a bunch of towels so they didn't bouce around and make loud noises for half an hour - they looked as good as new :D

Another idea...

...I throw mine in the washing machine with Borax (the all over miracle cleaner), but I don't suggest putting them in the dryer: I stuff mine with paper and dry them in the sun naturally.

thanks for the shoe cleaning ideas

Alyie and Julie...Dave

actually around 8 miles

I'm going to edit the distance on the trail run last Mon.I think the person I ran with was way off on the miles we covered.I changed it in the edenometer.

5K

23:41, just to get the lactate shaken out of the legs. I also had batting practice and some outfield drills for baseball. Feelin' alright.

at the risk of annoying everyone with more exercise phys

principles:

lactate is out of your bloodstream and muscles very, very quickly after activity... it gets buffered out by bicarbonate. What feels better to you from that run is having more bloodflow and oxygen and associated nutrients to your legs, and has nothing to do with lactate removal.

love from,
the exercise phys lab rat.

Makes sense

because it doesn't feel like lactate at this stage. Good to know!

2.5m for me & 3.5 for Vanessa

Pretty much a rest day for me with just a couple on the ET and a stroll about the block with Vanessa. Some vanity lifting. The drawers keep sliding out though - how do you prevent that Steve? I'm jealous hearing of those great runs on the carriage trails. Life is good.

quick ride Edenmeter?

before dark. 12 miles around Town Hill. How are we counting cycling miles on the Edenmeter?
