18th annual Mother's Day 5-Kilometer Road Race, sponsored by Penquis and Maine Eastern Railroad, again will challenge local runners, young and old alike. In addition to this year’s 5k Family Fun Run, Penquis will host the popular 250m Kids’ Mad Dash. This event is free for children ages 12 and under. Both races begin at the intersection of Pleasant and Union Streets and end at the railroad station on Pleasant Street. Runners should gather for registration between 7:00 am - 8:15 am. The Kids Mad Dash begins at 8:30 am with the Family Fun Run immediately following. All proceeds of the Mother’s Day Road Race will benefit the Penquis Head Start program in Knox County.
