the will to win is nothing without the will to prepare
I ate a gel between the run and swim and threw up in the gutter after warm up, what does that mean when I haven't even started the set? I've got two suits today - a new two-piece layered under the ROCK STAR one, and they're cut differently so that the two piece is hugging my hips really low and the other comes right up over them. It feels good, so many straps x-ing my back, their splays of color.
And all I can think on the 500s is that this sucks and the next one is just going to hurt more. These are the sets we love to hate
1000 w/u 12 x 50 on :50 perfect stroke 5 x 100 on 1:30 middle 50 fist drill
6 x 500 on 7:00 -pull, 75 easy/25 fast (6:35) -pull, 50 easy/50 fast (6:30) -pull, 25 easy/75 fast (6:20) -pull, fast (6:09) -swim, 75 easy/25 fast (6:40) -swim, fast (6:10)
2 x 200 c/d - swim, kick.
Got tired... the swimming ones should've been a lot faster than the pulling.
to finish off a solid day in Alyie's Little Tri World. Had plenty of energy during the ride but I just drank a glass of chocolate soymilk and my blood sugar is now dropping like crazy :P
Windsor and China Lake today. The lake looks nice. I need to find my wetsuit :D
and
see, they're just way too much fun.
Just three sets with some company, today. Also, 12 min. of a bike warm up, abs, and vanity lifting.
Keep running!
with Sara, Maggie, Fenway, Amy, Dilly, and Bozo. I hope my workout goes well tomorrow.
..with DeLaney. Legs are starting to feel springy!
Amy P, I sure hope I didn't leave you hanging at EL today. DeLaney and I slept late (and that was lovely and what we both needed) and I just couldn't get there on time. I wasn't sure if you were going and also didn't know how to reach you. Sorry if I messed anything up!
Off to bake for CeCelia's event tomorrow. I am praying it's not raining at 10am.
or CeCelia heard from Wanda Potter (my mother) or from Petco about donations or anything? She's been in NH up until yesterday but she said she was going to try and get something for the walk.
...but maybe CeCelia has a message on her phone. She had a big AP test today, and then a track meet in Bangor. Busy girl! We appreciate your help! (I am sure CeCelia will not turn in donations until the end of next week, in case she gets anything by mail, etc.)
Good luck at your 5-k and baby those legs the rest of the week. You've got a marathon to run!! :)
She said she's still working in Portland so she can't get up to deliver anything to the pet run. She's going to talk to her assistant manager and see if someone could send something at the last minute.
She also wanted me to tell everyone that whoever that wants to coordinate a pet run/walk or any pet-related event and would like donations to call 945-0049 and ask for Wanda. Or just let me know (since I can contact her pretty quickly). She says that as long as she's given at least a week notice, she can get donations to the event.
So far so good with those Wright Socks. Granted, I only ran 4 today...but my feet did feel warm and not a blister in sight. I will let you know how they do on my longer run Sunday. Hope you are having a nice day. :)
I may have to find out where you ordered them. The toe nail fell off the baby toe yesterday, not looking too sweet. Can't imagine what will happen to the toe if I start doing some long runs again. Of course on the brighter side, one less nail to polish!!!!!!!!!
I ALWAYS do my nails before a big race! :)
I ordered mine from Piedmont Walk and Run. I first did a search for Wright Socks, then online dealers. I think I got 3 pair for 18$ plus shipping.
44:43. Yeah, you're seeing that right. That's 25 seconds better than my 6-mile mark at Orrington. Not to mention over 3 minutes better than yesterday. What a difference it makes when it's noon instead of 4PM and it's 10 degrees cooler. Just like Wednesday, I felt most excellent throughout the run (I think that's the first time I've used 'most excellent' to describe a run). Didn't know what the splits were because I still haven't identified mile markers, but I'm kinda glad I didn't do that because I just wanted to go on feeling instead of tempo. I felt great, and still feel great after the run!
The Run for Relief 5K tomorrow has been cancelled because the Red Cross volunteers are pretty much all in northern Maine helping with relief efforts. Very understandable. So that leaves me open to run the Mother's Day 5K in Portland Sunday.
And speaking of northern Maine, Spudland racers (or anyone else), are there any plans to incorporate donations to those affected in northern maine? I'd love to see at least one race this year go to those efforts, whether it's up there or down here. My heart goes out to those affected by the bad conditions up there.
in northern Maine?
I only get news when Bruce B chimes in about it ;-)
had some major floods a week ago that they're still reeling from now - only in recent days have the water levels gone back to more normal levels. Lots of people lost their homes that were near major rivers or streams.
wow. I dug up some old news articles.
I am all for a Coast to County run! Cool name, spotter.
on with the news updates. But don't despair about missing the news about the flood of the century up north. You weren't the only one. Rumor has it that when President Bush was notified by his aides that northern Maine was in need of federal disaster relief, his response was, "by all means! Get it right down to them! The last thing we need is for Louisiana to lose another parish to flooding!"
P.S. Did anyone else catch the MSNBC coverage of the flood? While they were airing the footage, the anchor woman pronounced Aroostook - "Air-is-tuck!" Being the geography whiz that I am, I immediately concluded that she'd probably never been out of Minhottin, New Yerk.
And for them, it's not Bangor, it's "Banger."
My economic stimulus check got dropped in the bank today, so the first thing I decided to do was stimulate the economy by booking a room at the Sugarloaf Hotel next Saturday night. :) No riding down on the morning of the race for me!
that is where we are staying! We should all have dinner together...there will be 7 of us plus DeLaney. I wonder if Ginger is bringing the boys...
Got an e-mail today saying that the expo is 2-7PM and the spaghetti dinner from 5-8PM (unless we decide to eat elsewhere). 8 more days!
we are doing the pasta dinner. I think Ginger said there are some good, and reasonably priced, restaurants in the area. I can't believe it's so close!!!
...I love those words. Whatever we wanna do. I haven't been to the immediate Sugarloaf area since childhood so it'll almost be like a new experience for me.
242 miles from BH to Fort Kent = 4 laps of the island, or 4 teams x 1 lap of the island, or a million laps on the track. Perhaps a relay fundraiser of some sort with Sub 5?
Perhaps a relay along route 1, something like "Coast to The County" or some other catchy title. I'd be all for it.
Late run starting at about 6:30. I felt very tired but somehow I lost myself out there and cruised on autopilot at a pretty good clip, even up 7 Bridges. Ended with 1:02:21 for 8.0.
just trotting around the hood. Got to see Vanessa on her 3 mile run - always a good thing. I forgot to lift the vanity or anything else. We are hosting the Hershey Games (for kids 9 - 14) tomorrow. Should be fun. Life is good.
1% incline fartleks 10.5mph.Stayed with the knee forgiving surface of the mill.Using cushioned trainers for Sea Dog's 5k.Good luck all with the Sugarloaf taper.
