Happy Mothers Day!

7.5 mi

2000 scy

in the afternoon. Just a quick getinthewaterandstretchoutallmystrokes swim.

Go Judson!

And any other racers we may have today!

80 minutes easy

and strides. I've been running without my Ipod and I am pleasantly surprised by how much I like it.

Judson said it may not be a bad idea to put on a pound or two this week; I plan to work on that tonight when I am out to dinner with my family! hehe

physiological mechanism

is that as your body stores carbohydrate in your muscles as glycogen, water is stored with it - the weight gain is just H20.

The other reason people commonly gain weight when tapering is still eating like they're training lots (and those calories just get stored as fat)

But just remember, all calories

aren't created equal. Assuming the caloric content is equal, a person will get fatter quicker if they drink beer instead of eating pasta or some other food requiring mucho energy to digest. Right? Wrong? Maybe?

right wrong maybe

In those cases they're both carbs and it doesn't matter. Alcohol calories are absorbed quicker than those from pasta, as alcohol is absorbed straight through the stomach wall.

Your liver can store X amount of glycogen. It can handle about 400 calories at a time and anything over that is stored as fat - when your body is then ready to burn that energy, it is harder to break down stored fat than it is stored CHO. How the calories are stored depends on how depleted you are. Glucose goes to your brain first (the brain can only use glucose), then liver and muscles - and excess is, like I said, stored as fat. One recommendation is to eat ~400 calories every 3-4 hours, particularly if bettering one's body composition (ie, lower body fat) is a goal.

Way to go

Liddy kicks butt again at the MCTT

I bet

the sales of her personal line of action figures will skyrocket! hehe

GO LIDDY!

They've been

on backorder since her last ride. I am going to try eBay.

Nice job, Lid!

great job Liddy

time trials seem to be right up your alley. When will you get one of those slick TT helmets? congratulations!

80 min easy

too, with Amy and Dilly.

17.5

Longest run in quite a long time. I ran WHP early, then met up with the crew at 8:00 and joined Doug and TimT for Eagle-Bubble-Jordan. I felt good throughout and was very pleased that I felt strong at sub-8s at the end, up and over the top of the Jordan Pond hill and back to the EL parking lot.

10m

Easy run with the group this morning. Its actually just getting light at 6:30 here, when the crew totted off. We had a great Hershey Games meet yesterday with lots of happy kids. Nice running Mark. I'll have to get into shape to run with you. Congrats Liddy! Life is good.

6 miles

give or take, with a Mom's Day 5K in the middle. My slowest 5K ever, but faster than I expected, so that's good.

My friend (in honor of her mother) organizes this every year to raise money for education for underprivileged kids. She raised $4000!

Did Judson race today?

Mother's Day 5K

Well, I knew I was going to go into this tired...3 days of 'bad for you' food at the TV auction, 4 days of running with no day off prior, and two straight nights of 5 hours of sleep. I still did respectable, though, at 21:30. Splits were 6:59/7:04/6:54/:33(5:30). I liked the fact that I ran very even today.

I talked to Judson just after the finish, he got 2nd overall (15:19), only a few seconds behind Ethan. Pretty darn good, and just barely missed out on those tickets and the ceremonial first pitch! I also saw Adam Goode there along with David Colby and I believe I saw Sprague, too. I'm surprised I could pick them out of such a huge crowd.

Just checked the official results. Finished 164th out of 1,926 finishers. Wow, were there a lot of people running. This year definitely rivals the Maine Marathon in attendance.

Oh yeah, with 1-mile warmup, makes 4.1 for the day. Now to bear down for the Marathon!

Good work!

Thanks for the report!

nice race spotter

being a baseball player you must have enjoyed the home plate finish on Hadlock Field.Good luck preparing for Sugarloaf.

Thanks

and the last .1 was really fun - running on the warning track really made me feel like I was in my natural element. :)

9 miles mill,core

I held off on the 5k.I'll need to gap out races especially if the knee is as sore as it was after Patriot's Day 5 miler. What I've always found interesting about running is how after the pain of an injury diminishes you quickly bury it mentally forgetting all about it.When in fact my knee issue is very relevant and is not going to go away.If I want to be able to run long term I'll have to except not doing many races.Or I can go hard in two weeks of consecutive races and then be sidelined for two months. It's an easy choice for me.I'll go for PR's and blow my knee out.Seriously,I'll edit my road racing.

beautiful long run day

with EL gang; four in my group, Dan, Rick and Jeff. We did Aunt Betty and then I did EL again for 14. Then sat on the porch in the sun, had a nice phone call from my son, and finally did some work in the sun on the gardens. what a beautiful day.

Good racing..

Paula, Lid, Spotter, Chris, and Judson. Looks like another busy weekend for Eden..and things are just getting cranked up.

9.5 miles with a 10k on the rower. And a bit of mulch lifting..it's like vanity lifting but without the sharp edges.

Happy Mom's Day!

Great EL run

Judy/Dan/Rick -

It was a great run Sunday - Thanks for the company! It'd been a while since I'd done Aunt Betty UP the 7 bridges, and it's a climb....but really enjoyed it. Sorry for losing you around the top - I did a quick jaunt toward Jordan Pond and thought I'd catch you coming back around Eagle, but was too slow to catch back up with you I guess! Look forward to next time....

Great day.....
