"Workouts are like brushing my teeth; I don't think about them, I just do them. The decision has already been made." -- Patti Sue Plumer, U.S. Olympian
on the stationary bike, very EZ. A good long stretchin'.
Keep running!
I'm supposed to do some walking today, but haven't yet. I'm still sipping my morning coffee.
My calves feel 100%, but my knee and groin area are still pretty sore. Hope everyone in this house has clean laundry cause I don't really want to do the basement stairs today. LOL
One thing I forgot to mention...I had never met Michelle G. before and had the pleasure of her company until somewhere around mile 8. That girl is HILARIOUS! I really enjoyed her company. :)
I always have a smile on my face when I'm around Michele.
I told you "look, downhill, it's easy!" and you said, "you know after 24 miles it doesn't seem so easy."
:-)
bike 2:15 run 10k (45:36)
The cycling just wasn't fun. The run, on the other hand :D
I love that loop, but it is always cold over in NE Harbor.
little things, like making hotel reservations. I'm new at this whole Being An Adult And Planning Your Own Trips thing.
but I found a place to stay on June 7 because MOOSEY is the next day!
Congratulations! No one's in danger of being cut from the team!
P.S. If you don't hear from me in a while, don't think I've up and left you all. I just heard on the news that a truck hauling 14 tons of double-stuffed Oreos overturned near Chicago. I'm on my way.
I'll race ya!
Got Milk?
is just begging for a picture.
Bruce, I am glad to know we're all being kept! And thank you for the update on all the important world news.
you KILL me!!!
I decided to run the marathon as a training run with no pressure and ZERO expectation. The goal was to work on running a smart race instead of a bulldog race. I was a really “good girl” for the first 10 miles (thanks to Ginger and Suzanne)and then I got stupid again. I open it up at mile 10 after the big downhill, instead of 18, as highly recommended. So, from mile 10 to 16 I ran fast and had lots fun. I felt like Captain Underpants (some of you with kids must know this super hero) on a mission and then for some reason it was no longer fun . . . I paid for it during the last 10 miles but I put one foot in front of the other and went from mile post to mile post.
For me it was a great exercise in patience and discipline. I really enjoyed the course but the last 10 miles were NOT flat but rolling and each roll was a ferocious peak to be conquered.
And, how about that super elevated road crown - banking toward the right? That was a killer.
I had a great time and thanks for all the support especially from Cecilia and Ginger's husband.
Cheers
Hopefully the showers won't be too bad in the area today. 3-5 miles of walking will do me some good.
-Though I have been against putting stickers on my vehicles, I'm going to put the '26.2 Sugarloaf' one on. Pride's getting the better of me in this case. :)
-I'm taking the rest of the day off from work to do laundry and rest my legs a bit more. Surprisingly, the calves have almost no soreness - the worst comes from my quads, which took a beating down that sharp downhill on mile 12. After this race, I've finally concluded that my legs love going uphill far better than downhill.
-Apologies to Ginger and Suzanne for not sticking with them for part of the race like I was intending to do. The start of the race was way too sudden for me to settle in and find everyone, so I just took off and worked on finding my 'zen stride.'
-Oh, and the Saturday night story. I went to the convenience store in Stratton to pick up breakfast that I could scarf down pre-marathon when I realized that I may have not packed my running shorts. I raced back to the hotel and tore apart my backpack to find that I was right. With my trusty laptop, I did a search for the nearest department store that would be open late - it was already 8:30. Looked like I was going to Wal-Mart...in FARMINGTON. 2 hours/85 miles later, I got my shorts and was back to my room. Of course by this point it was near midnight and I wasn't getting much sleep. :)
-Last thing to note: the scenery...wow. I haven't been to the area in over 20 years, and I just forgot out picturesque everything is up there. When I got to the top of the hill in mile 11, I just took it all in and forgot about all my troubles. I am definitely returning next year to run this again.
cruise around Bangor - sun, wind and a brief shower. 73 minutes. Awesome reports and from Sugarloaf. Well done.
I bet you're pretty proud of your trainee. Maybe Judson needs to take lessons from you. JUST KIDDING:)!:)!:)!;)
for not gloating about the Celtics win over the Cavs. Not that I couldn't take it...I am not a crybaby or anything.
when they're down. : )
Three miles today, at a minute over marathon pace. Actually I just made that up, but something very relaxed.
Again, good job to all of you at Sugarloaf. Great reports.
you are up and at 'em again, Shannon. Hope you are feeling good as new!
...BUT I'm hoping you've slowed just a little bit so I can keep up with you! :)
I'm BAAAAAAACCKKKKK....Watch out Maine! :) I'm SO excited...can't wait to start training for something! Well, after I get some sleep!
Great to have you back! FYI, there is a group running from Eagle Lake between 8 and 8:15 on Wednesday morning. I know that's a bit early for you, but I wanted to let you know just the same. Anyone else who wants to join us is welcome. We always like to see new faces.
I'm used to running at 6! Plus, no Kaschmando right now so I need to take advantage of my freedom!
I will be running from Brown Mountain Gate house tomorrow at 8:45 if you want to head over to the other side of the world. I welcome anyone willing to run 9:30ish pace.
I'll come harass you guys on my bike.
I could really use a walker, you know...cane. AND... the only icing I've done is ice cream. Judson, please tell me your legs hurt a little bit today.
...I can report that Judson ran with his track team today. He warmed up with them and then led his distance runners through some pretty quick-paced economy repeats so they'll be sharp for their home meet tomorrow.
Suzanne can confirm.
well that just about figures. Thanks for helping me out yesterday, Brian. You lightened my step and had me chuckling when you started doing that little dance move with your finger to the beat of the band. I bet you're something else on the dance floor.
He did.
I asked the same thing..."Aren't you sore AT ALL?" :)
talk about food! I am well on my way to the 10 pounds I was told to gain. I had two slices of pizza for lunch, then Jimmy treated me to Jordan's Snack Bar for dinner. Ok, not the healthiest choices, but YUMMY! I woke up starving this morning!
that is my diet plan what part is not healthy
waking up hungry in the middle of the night, crazy metabolism.
to gain?? Man, I wish I had your troubles. Honestly though, I haven't had an appetite since the marathon. I feel great and higher than a kite for some reason.
I don't think he was serious. I hope he wasn't serious...I'm NOT gaining ten pounds! LOL
I am so glad you're feeling good!
the Celtics are a sleeping giant that hopefully will wake up soon. They have been a different team in the playoffs looking lost and disjointed after such a dominating regular season. They have been very lucky to have escaped elimination thus far.

Impressive PR's and great running by all in Sugarloaf.Inspired by the racing yesterday I did 10 miles on the mill in my stuffy apt at 2% incline, surges 10mph-10.7mph,in 72:35.I'm on for the Red Hook Ale 5k in Portsmouth NH next Sat.Race is capped at 2,000 and it was nearly full when I reg'd.I'll have plenty of company I could beat my PR 17:52 from last year and I'll be nowhere near the top.A good thing.Running with faster people is the best just inspires you to work harder.Go Celtics.
Just strolling the hood with Vanessa. Welcome back Julie & a belated Happy Birthday. Color us jealous of you returning to the woods already. Enjoy!
Good to hear you are running amuck again Shannon.
Life is good.
