3:12 on the road bike (suck it up, princess)
...at the track while CeCelia did a workout. I think Judson will have some competition in the coaching department soon. Every time CeCelia lined up to start a new 400, DeLaney was there demanding "Run! Run!" I think she may be a mini coach in the making. :)
Happy Memorial Day.
I got 5:23! Not bad for getting caught up in runner traffic for the first quarter mile and almost getting swiped by a pickup pulling into the Ellsworth Denny's.
Going out later today to do a slow, long run provided the weather holds up.
a one mile race once. It was Halloween last year. I was trying to beat Britney Spears, but she was too fast for me to catch. :)
Nice job, Spotter!!!
Shannon was right behind me/beside me for the majority of the mile (it still amazes me to see her go so fast pushing her kids). She wanted to thrash that truck so bad for cutting me off. I think we could have dismantled that thing together if we wanted to. :)
you've caught her!!!!
Testing my limits here...ran a huge loop around pleasant lake in Stetson. (MapMyRun route for the curious.) 11.37 miles, 1:41:51. I went slow and still hit a wall about half way through. The 55-degree water of the lake was a godsend. Feeling ok, but my legs are tired and burning. A day off is definitely in order!
Including the 1-mile race with 1-mile warmup and 1-mile cooldown, that makes just under 14 1/2 on the day.
How did you know what you got for a time? I'm thrilled to hear yours, since I could see you at the end so that gives me an idea of mine. I'll credit that red car for my performance; no special at Denny's is worth your life and I was livid.
Your miles made mine look paltry in comparison, but I did have maybe three to add to the edenometer today.
I'm unable to post my miles on the Edenometer today. It lets me in to see what other people have posted, but it won't let me add my miles. It says "Access Denied" to the right of the screen where I usually type my username and password. Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas?
Fun 5.88 today with Holly, Lisa, Missy, Ginger, Bozo, Beth, Sara, Maggie, Marion, Poppy and Buck. I hope I didn't forget anyone. Plenty of tourists out today. It's time to start sharing the roads again :)
Congrats to everyone that raced this long weekend. Great job!
I changed it so that everyone can see it, but you cannot edit unless you are signed in. There should be a "sign in" link in the upper right hand corner of the welcome page. If you and/or others continue to have a problem, I will change it back so that only those who are "authorized" (i.e. have been added to the email list as collaborators) can view the document.
Sorry for the confusion!
I've got it now.
on the Edenometer today. Karen has a whole week of 'em! Way to go, Karen!
Be sure to add your miles...last week could stand some beefing up.
The weather reporters painted a grim picture of severe thunderstorms all day, so I opted for the treadmill. Naturally, as soon as I finished, the sun came out, and has been smiling ever since. Guess the joke's on me!
My dog Brandy got away from her pen at Acadia woods kennel in town hill yesterday. She is a yellow lab mix and is kind of skittish. If any body sees her while they are running in that area (crooked road-high school-norway drive area) please call me @ 479-3603. We got the call yesterday while in new hampshire. It was her first time in a kennel and she digs out. She is the first escapee in the kennel's history. I don't know if she will stay near the kennel or try to make it home. We came home early and have been searching with no luck. Thanks, John
I will keep out an eye when I am out and about...good luck!
I am praying as hard as I can to St. Anthony and St. Francis...
We live in that neighborhood so we'll keep our eyes open. Here's hoping she shows up soon.
I hope you find her soon. love Alyie
John - I have emailed my sister that lives on the Knox Road and my friend that lives near the corner of Crooked Road and Gilbert Farm to keep their eyes peeled for Brandy... Beth
Good idea Beth: I sent an email to friends on Norway Drive. I hope Brandy turns up very soon.
this is an awesome network. We are grateful for your help.
I have a few friends out in that area too. I'll put a word out and also take a drive out that way after my run at EL tomorrow, I'll carry your cell # with me.. So sorry, John. I have high hopes, though:)
feelin' the bike.
12 training days left :D
1 pm monday and it's sunny and windy. 6 easy miles.
Liddy and Paula did awesome yesterday in the West Side Ride. Liddy was unbelievable in the front of that huge man pack - totally awesome!!!!!
Though I wasn't thrilled with the start. Before I got to get up near the mid/front section of the start line, some lady felt the need to back up before the race , so while me and a bunch of others got pushed off to the side to let the lady back up her car, the race director started the race. Most of the riders were already heading down Main Street before we got to leave, needless to say, we never stood a chance, but......... it was an awesome ride. The group that got caught behing the lady stayed together until Long Pond, then as we rounded the corner toward a big hill, I pulled away and just one other guy stayed with me for the last 7-miles. It was just he and I to the finish and I beat him to the line:) Two bike races in one weekend rocks! Oh yeah, hiking Acadia today wasn't bad either.
are results available online? And what was your cycling mph for the race?
You guys are ridiculously tough. Great job!
at home soon.
Nice rides Lid and Paula on the backside..or, westside.
Impressive debut mile, Spotter. What's next on your race calendar?
Hope all went well with the race this morning, Bob B!
Will by my next target, this coming Saturday. It looks to be pretty low on the radar, though Sub5 has it posted. Has anyone run it before? This sounds like an inaugural or one-time race.
From Sub5:
"Saturday, May 31
5K to benefit the Pittsfield Community Pool. Start at 9:00a.m. The run will begin in the back parking lot of GE Security and there will be registration available the day of the race. $15 entry fee. All runners registered by May 2nd will receive a race T-Shirt. Contact Mallory Boudreau 1-207-487-2103 or email mallory.boudreau@ge.com for a registration brochure or more information. "
Hope she shows up soon!
Keep running Home!
Another nice weekend to run up on Cape Breton Island.
Felt the marathon in my legs on the uphill portions of leg 1 but really good on the flat and downhill pieces. Other than my legs feeling the marathon and that the first 2.4 miles were gravel this year because of construction I thought I ran well. Went right out and hammered from the start. My goal was to get the leg record and I wanted to give the team as big a lead as possible. Rami Bardeesy ran really well and only finished a few minutes back.
Leg 17 was no fun until the end when I saw the finish and was able to give some of the Mainiacs high-fives. I cruised up the hill with Russell Christie pulling me up the first hill. We had the winner from 2007 leg 6 with us as well. halfway up the hill it was down to Russell and myself. I got side by side and pushed the final bit of the hill and got to about 6-k first. Think I had a 10 second lead or so. Next bit goes down for a while and I gave smiles, thumbs up and really relaxed way too much. As we hit the bottom of the hill Russell caught back up and went by. We hit the dirt section which is a couple miles long and was full of potholes and it was like dodging mines. He made a joke about it and I did too, then tried to surge. I felt aweful but was getting a lead. Still this whole dirt section I could hear Russell and I felt worse than I did anytime of the marathon. I knew I still had a 2+ mile uphill and then a long mile downhill to go but I pushed to the bottom of the long hill and had a 30 second lead. I wasn't very cheerful to anyone even my teammate, sorry. Luckily my legs seemed to wake up going up the 2 mile uphill and I felt awesome coming into the finish and was able to extend the lead to enjoy the finish which is an awesome experience at Cabot with runners lining the streets the final 400 meters on both sides and most of the last mile is screaming downhill. I was happy to win both legs especially with two very good runners chasing me.
Getting out of the warmups The Captain multitasking Hags prepare for mass arrest Carrie plants a horse with her track spikes Carrie and Shannon cheer for Evan on leg 3 Judson wins the glory leg Maine Road Hags Maine-iacs
Did Tom K take those photos? They seem to be heavy on the Hags getting dressed :) Great pictures! Everyone looks like they're having loads of fun. Shannon, Who knew?
is how the Hags ran all the way around Cape Breton in those shoes without getting any blisters!
I had a totally wonderful time sharing 1st Race Medals with a lot of beaming new runners today. It just doesn't get better than this. I am quite proud of the new runners and all those who worked so hard the last ten weeks and got stronger.
Nice job Spotter!
John M, hope Brandy is back home soon. I emailed friends off Crooked Road & Frenchman's Hill too, sharing your number.
outdoors run at Back Cove.Windy but felt great to ditch the treadmill and enjoy fresh air.To be able to run that distance the day after a race is a good sign. The knee feels good and now it is obvious.Using cushioned shoes for racing is the way to go.I only wish I had done that earlier. They are heavier then flats but who cares.Being able to run and race pain free takes precedence over worrying about knocking seconds off.Congrats Judson, awesome running and great race report.Congrats Bob that must be rewarding to share this sport with new runners and then see them enjoy the experience of racing.Nice mile Spotter seems like you are getting faster by the day.
felt much better today. Knees don't feel weak anymore.
with Sara. Great run.
