I started hating life in the middle of the 500s. They hurt, my lats and serratus anterior feeling as if they were gripping my ribcage and I kept waiting for my calves to cramp (they did, on the last pushoff, and my feet did too, when I curled my toes into my flip flops when I got out).
you will learn the pain in practice and you will feel it in every race
in about 58 min. along the riva'. Stretches and some leg weights, too.
Keep running!
How are you doing, Steve? How's life in Ipswich?
Ipswich is still there. After a tough Boston, I was able to requalify at Sugarloaf. Life is good.
Pushups and abs, too.
The bike has been a real lifesaver while recovering from the race. I'm so glad Santa got it for me! :)
Hill repeats on the bike and set 150 lobster traps. It's officiall, I'm back to work!
lobstering was one of my favorite parts of summer last year.
Speaking of which, Jill - are you on the island for the summer? I'd love to catch up sometime!
Ya, I'm hurt.
I think I hurt my elbow banging rocks on the guard rails at Cabot. Hard life!!!
for you!
Judson has a good excuse not to swim, too ;-)
What's he going to do with his time now??
;)
since you're new, I'll explain: last summer, Judson told me he thought he could swim faster than I can. Apparently he thinks swimming is pretty easy. We have yet to actually race...
I told you to pick the time and place. I'm ready whenever you're ready. Elbow is just a little sore. My only thing is it has to at least be a mile.
:-)
I've seen Judson swim :)
I didn't know Judson was a swimmer!
Steve and Diane's camp!
Put me in coach.
i've done a lot of things people think I cannot.
not to swim once before this event.
You could have played right field for us tonight...ours, well, doesn't catch. At all. Nor does he track the ball very well. You'd have some wicked range out there.
How about out & back to the rock. However, my guess is that's only a 1/4M.
Sorry, Judson, my money's on Alyie.
I have faith in you!!!! :)
but there's no way Judson can swim faster than I.
Echo Lake makes for good OW swimming, we could start from the Ledges.
56:35. Again, same route as yesterday, but I didn't bother keeping splits and just ran for weekly mileage. Left hamstring still feels a little tender - has been since Monday. The crazy mad dashes around the basepaths this week probably don't help the healing process much. Otherwise, feeling good.
2-for-3, 2 RBI, walked, scored twice, but caught stealing. Shame on me! We won, 17-15.
Oh, and because I am crazy and slide on gravel with little padding, I'll have a nice little scar to show off on my right shin at the Camden run.
Came home with a face full of midges. The Yankees must be in town.
no watch, no worries. Time to pick up the kids.
Out to Mcfarland hill and back from the high school, plus a little at the track. Had a nice chat with Brian, good to see him again.
I'm excited!!!!! Or... kind of...
Final track meet tomorrow!!!! Gaaak! Don't tell Judson I said that.
Please let us know how it goes.
WHP with PH. I didn't feel great, but no big deal--what an evening. I enjoyed a chat with Don B. at the end too.
4 miles with Bozo; very, very slowly. I'm tired after the track workout. I hiked Beehive with my new trainee too. I'm training my friend, (who's 100 lbs over weight/non runner,) for his FIRST race; the Maine Half Marathon! I hope it works out. It will be a big challenge, but what a thrill it will be if it works out. After the hike we jogged for 2 min., walked for 1 min., then jogged 47 sec. I had my trusty fuel belt on so he could have his hands free for the hike and run. It's a start. Boy... Beehive's a lot scarier than I remember.
To you for training him, and for him in training to that goal. It's definitely do-able.
Here's some motivational experience for him: I was still 215-220 (40-45 pounds overweight) when I ran it last year and finished at just over 2 hours. It was the second road race I ever ran, and I had never run more than 6.5 miles to that point.
It sounds like he's where I was 18 months ago...I started my weight loss from 125 pounds overweight, and my running from 100 pounds over. :)
Your friend is lucky to have you as a coach. Maybe he'll join us one Sunday later this summer for a three lake walk/run.
Scott (Spotter), I hope you'll come down this fall and share some of your "motivational experience" with our First Strides group.
Just ETing today, unless you can count hide n seek mileage. No midges. Life is good.
Did both in jeans, though, so it likely doesn't count as a workout. The stretching just because I was too lazy to change, and the biking was to work and back.
