Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.

My precious shoulders, I do not know what is wrong with them. My lats are fatiguing at nothing and then the tendonitis acts up. I'm sad, frustrated, fearful... I don't feel like myself when I can't be a fish!

eagle lake

6 at 6 with Matt H. this morning.

ooh 6@6

summer is here. for newbies, what Judson is referring to is meeting at Eagle Lake under the bridge (signpost 6) at 6 am in the morning to run EL (6 miles). I will try to make it next week when I'm back in town with at all a regular schedule.

Just under 62 minutes bike...

..for 18 miles. The bike is hard work for me, but I can feel that I am getting stronger. I've never been on the bike for this long before. I told my coach I wanted to work it back into my training...be careful what you wish for! hehe

Abs and pushups, too. I upped my pushups to 50 a day- I'm feeling great!

4 mile run/40 min. bike

run with Julie, Sara, Holly, Shannon, Adria, Zoe, and Dasher. It's taken some effort to keep up with everyone on runs lately, but that's okay. Bike with Julie, Kasch, and Carl. Julie's one tough cookie, pulling Kasch through all those hills at Brown Mountain. We'd like to have a hard core hike once week too, in place of running. Hope others will join us, if you dare!

Great run

I had a really nice run with the crew mentioned above, and finished feeling kind of euphoric. Must have been the company (and the downhill and flat finish.) Looking forward to the next time I can jump in on one of those Brown Mtn gate runs.

No bike ride for me. Maybe some other day. : )

98 min. bike

cranky.

hard core hikes

any chance these hard core hikes could take place sometime when people like me who basically have to sit in an office at least part of some 'work days' can come. I can sometimes take a morning/afternoon off, but depends on the particular day. is one planned yet?

Judy

That's awesome! I'd like to hike this Fri. at 8. I was thinking something close to home (and it's close to the lab too) maybe The Ladder Trail or Champlain. I have 11 miles on Thur. and a work/double Fri. so if I'm wiped I probably should rest, but I'll probably just hike easy. I think Julie's coming too and hopefully others.

I am not

at all hard core, but love the idea of hiking. Keep posting plans of times to hike with locations so someday when I can get there I'll tag along.

5.42mi

39 minutes. An "angry run" because I had a talk with my best friend and he got dumped by his fiancee who wasn't ready for a future with kids (he has two - one lives with him, one with his parents). Long story short, he is very hurt and frustrated and it rubbed off on me a bit. I had to run - it helped me think straight and figure out how I can help him.

Of course, running comes to mind and I am going to try to get him into that. Nothing take the mind off frustration like a good run, as I've been taught. :)

agreed

training is my cure for all emotions. Though I think I lean more toward negative affect than positive affect :P this is why tapering is so difficult, my other coping skills just aren't as good as Go Run Or Take Your Bike Out.

It's definitely easier

to go out and run off troubles now. I'm very slow to anger but that just means it build up like a terrible thunderstorm. Running allows me to turn frustration into purpose and, in this case, turn an easy run into a 7:20 tempo run without even thinking about it.

I'm

sorry about your friend. Especially if they were already engaged; it must have been a shock. It takes someone very special to raise and love children that are not their own; I hope he finds the right one. Lucky to have a friend like you to lean on. :)

I'm sure

someone will appreciate him for what he does and has. In this day and age, some people just don't feel like putting effort into a relationship with a single mom or dad, which is too bad. I reassure him of the fact that he can't be any worse than me on the dating scene!

If necessary, I'll room up with him and his son in a big apartment or something to help him out. I'll be a local version of 'Two and a Half Men.' Except I don't quite look like Charlie Sheen.

Late 5K

Since the softball game was canceled due to improperly-draining fields. Took to nice and slow @ 24:41. 8.52 miles for the day.

7M

just got rained on.

I helped *run* a mile of computer cable in the tech center today - of the 6 of us *running* there was only one who wasn't wearing running sneakers!

Yeah

And he pointed it out so I wouldn't forget it! Ding dong.

4 strong miles in CT

I'm reading alot of posts from people who are struggling a bit like I was on saturday...I can relate. Glad to be feeling ok; the plan is to go 6 miles for time tomorrow.

6 miles....

Or 50 minutes of running. Out and back from the high school to top of Mcfarland hill and back. Ended with a lap around the track.

6 miles

in the lightning-free comfort of my basement.

Lazyitis

How do you get rid of it? I think I must have it. I was up before 5 this morning and almost ready to head out the door to do my speed repeats when IT came over me. I told myself I could wait and do my workout this afternoon once I got off the boat, well IT was still with me. On my way to my workout, I stopped and talked with the neighbor, then I had to go to the post office and of course had to talk to people there,(I think I was dragging my feet in hopes that it would rain) then when I got to my destination, I barely made it throuh my mile warm up and when it came time to run fast, well, I couldn't make it an 1/8 of a mile without stopping. I tried again, and still no umph so I called it a day. What's with that, how do you get rid of it? This can not be happening.

5m

Whew! Mighty warm and humid here in Orange Park on the Foxridge 5. I'm looking forward to some of those 6 @ 6 runs & just getting back to Eden Central and our friends there. Life is good.

Alyie, sorry about your shoulder. What are you doing to improve it? Ice, ultrasound, NSAIDs, etc?

Paula, sounds like your mind and/or body just weren't ready to push the pace today. I've read enough of your posts to know you are tough, but sometimes you just have to go with what your mind and body are ready for and throttle back. I usually think of speed work as being on the "bleeding edge of fun." If it starts feeling like a job you "have" to do you may have crossed over the line. It also makes a big difference if you are just plain tired when you start. You may find that the next time you head out, feeling fresher, it will make a huge difference and you'll have the zip back in your workout.

ice and ibuprofin

yesterday. It feels okay this AM, I think. The interesting thing was it hurt most after getting off the bike yesterday, I wonder if something about how I am on the handlebars is contributing?
