Baby turtles, loons, and bunnies, oh my!

6 @ 6

A nice relaxed nature run with Kasch this morning...with sightings of Judson & Brian along with a very small turtle, loons, and a bunny! A beautiful morning out there!

Rest

today. Probably. :)

Tue. 3:30 pm. run??

I will be running EL, Tue. @ 3:30. I would love company. I will be hiking/on my feet all day with Oliver's class, so "easy does it" around the lake.

I haven't gotten

my schedule from Judson yet, but DeLaney and I would love to join you! I will let you know for sure later.:)

Ginger

We will be there. I'll park in the bigger lot with the double bathrooms. See you tomorrow!

Great, Suzanne

I'm hiking with Oliver's class ALL day AND missing my nap, so if I get too wiped out from the heat AND lack of nappy, I probably won't run the lake. If you don't hear from me that's a good sign, I think:) Julie and Kasch are coming too.

OK

We'll see how the day goes. They are saying there might be storms this afternoon, so I may not be there either if thats the case....especially since I'll have DeLaney. If I run earlier, I will leave you voice mail. Have fun hiking!

I'll

be at the lake!

Yay!

See you there!

Remember to VOTE

on Tuesday.

Yes, please VOTE....

...Bar Harbor residents, in support of the Bar Harbor School budget.

and Bangor residents, for ADAM GOODE in the Democratic state legislative primary!!!!

Brian

I understand the wording in strange on the school budget question. Is a yes vote a yes vote or are we suppose to vote no to get the budget passed? I hate tricky legislative wording.

YES

A 'YES' vote validates the budget which was

  • approved by the school board,
  • endorsed by the town council and warrant committees,
  • and passed by a resounding majority at last week's town meeting.
A 'NO' vote would torpedo the whole thing and set the whole process back
to the very beginning.

I don't know why

Matt said it was tricky.

It *is* poorly worded

...as it makes it seem like a "YES" is to spend more than what was approved at town meeting and it makes it seem like a "NO" vote holds the budget to what was approved at town meeting.

Just vote YES and you get what passed at town meeting.

Feeling good

[the fatigue may not have hit me yet] but I feel good. Legs are a teensy bit sore but, I feel good. And now that I am not as raw from it, I am happier about it. Suzanne, did you find that too? That a few days or so you feel better about it?

Yes

Definitely!!

6 at 6

Missed the turtle, bunny and loon, but I always like passing by the section with the lillies and watching Brian dry heave at the end.

Hurling...

...Don't encourage him; he just does it for the attention.

Judson

that made me laugh so hard, I almost hurled! (Sorry, Brian, I can't help it.)

I laughed to

while I was asking if he was ok.

6 at 6 every weekday at eagle lake. Doesn't it sound like fun?

I'm there rain or shine. It is aweful the first time if you are not used to getting up that early, but after the initial break in period it's really nice getting a run out of the way before the day has really started. Don't expect to ever see Ginger there, she doesn't get up before 8.

It is fun...

...but not going your pace! :)

Nice and easy/dry heaves...I just don't see how the two go together! :)

Great

we'll see you at 6am.

6 at 8:15 EL

Nice run this morning--PR for me on EL--for this year anyway. No animal sightings either. Upper body weights also at the Y.

5mi, 38 minutes

with RK in Bangor. Bonked hard right at the end of it but made it through some 7:20-7:40 miles in the heat.

5M Run

mental fortitude awareness day - you either got it, or you don't.

3.1mi, 22 minutes

Around home a little after work. It got overcast so I seized the opportunity.

Went 1-for-4 in softball with 2 RBI. Team lost 13-8.

10K Course?

I've been asking everyone with very little success... can someone tell me what the 10K course is for this Sunday's race. I'm attempting my first 10K and it would be nice to know what I'm in for... I'm already scared as it is... Thanks!

YMCA 10k

If its like past years:
Start on main st towards then past Jackson lab. Turnaround near the park entance then back past the lab, turn left at the ballfield past the Y, left on ? ledgelawn up the hill on towards Kebo. Left towards the park loop road, left onto park loop then left back to town past the town/water treatment buildings on to ledgelawn finally right to finish in front of the YMCA.

Oh yeah The YMCA race is on Sat. 14.

course

Pretty easy course for a race on MDI. The last 2 miles are very fast. Don't be scared, just nervous.

Easy course!!

Ya right, depends on the temperature.

Sounds like Tennille..

has been keeping up with her training! Hope some other First Strides runners will join her for the 10K this Saturday. The Tremont Trot 4-Miler is next weekend and is on Sunday, the 22nd.

Y 10K

Just what Dr Dave said except you don't turn left on Ledgelawn. Instead, cross Ledgelawn and continue on Park street(?). Then, take a left on ? street. Next, take a right on Cromwell Harbor Rd (?) up past golf course. The first year it was as Dr Dave said, but last year they changed it so it was a bit easier to get up the Cromwell Harbor Road (?) hill. I really should learn these street names.

Tennille, you'll do great. Nothing to be nervous about. The last mile is slightly downhill. A nice way to end your first 10K.

left on Glen Mary

? I think.

Trust me...

...you are completely correct in saying Tennille will do great. I ran with her for a bit on Sunday and she was moving!(I had to work hard to catch her once we passed eachother).....not to mention she looked fresh as a daisy in the heat! :)

6 for me in NE

I tacked on another two at the end of my usual four. I guess that is what happens when you more or less take the weekend off.

Nice bike yesterday, Liddy.

run with Lid

Got in what I think is 14.65 miles in 90 minutes. We started just after 7pm and I was hoping it would be cooler, but it was still about 77 degrees and only 70 by the time we got done. But like they always say it's not the heat that gets you, it's the humidity and it was humid.

Lid biked the whole thing with me and kept me at an honest effort. I picked up the final mile and managed about 5:15. Brian drove the last 2 miles behind me which was nice since it was getting dark out. Lid really knows how to push my buttons. We starting talking about something that pisses me off and all of a sudden I find myself getting around the seven bridges and ealge lake loop in under 49 minutes. Plus like Evan and Matt H. who like to halfstep me the whole run, Lid always kept one tire just ahead of me. I did make her work a little going up seven bridges, but for the most part she got to watch me sweat.

Nice cold shower replaced my plan of jumping in the ocean, but it was nice.

Easy 6 at 6 tomorrow for anyone interested.
