Eden's RACING
trying to decide what I want to do today
She lays down on the sidewalk Never very analytical She is something simply beautiful Reappear with youth and magical
Back in the days when we were young When everything was like a loaded gun Ready to go off in any minute Yeah you know we’re gonna win again
We found her in west tremont, thanks to a very nice lady. Thank you all for your help. She is very happy to be home. She's very thin, but strong. We are so happy to have her back. Three weeks to the day we last saw her. She needs a tubby.
to hear the news. John, I could hear the relief (and exhaustion) in your voice when we spoke. Too bad Brandy can't talk to tell you of her adventures. Welcome home Brandy!!
She must be excited to see you, too!
I am happy to hear that Brandy's home. Maybe she needs some of Bonnie's yummy muffins :-)
Haven't seen you guys since I've been on the island! We should run together sometime.
who know's what she's eaten in the last three weeks. Now I can get back to running. I couldn't keep up with you Alyie! But soon....
That is just the BEST news! I am so happy for you guys!
Good dog!
That's the best news I've heard in a long time. I'm sure Brandy and the entire Murphy family will sleep well tonight.
GIVE THAT DOG A BONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)
The whole club is ecstatic you've returned. : )
I ran some and biked some, and worked some. Don't have any distances but I'll guess for the edenometer. Great job today at the 10K all.
I'm trying to recover from a nasty virus that knocked me down for a couple days - So no race for me. John, I'm glad to hear you got Brandy back - great news.
Tight left calf, sore left heel, and went out way too fast on the first quarter mile, but still managed a respectable 5:26 and nabbed 3rd in my age group. Congrats to Adam Goode on the 4:11 time, and to Ryan for getting the results out even after the timing program blew up in his face.
2mi warmup, 1mi cooldown, makes 4mi so far. I may run a short one today depending on how I feel. Bought some 'upsetting' shorts at Epic today and I'm gonna try them out.
Good luck to the MDI 10K folks!
what are 'upsetting' shorts?!
from someone that called any racer/70s-80s-style shorts "upsetting." The shorts that are cut off half way between the knee and the waist (or higher) for guys. Maybe the women use different terminology but for other guys, seeing them can be upsetting, especially if they're a size or two too small..
haha. All I have is 'shorts' and 'skinny shorts,' which are like skinny jeans. You know you're at race weight when your skinny shorts fit :D
And guess who they used to belong to!
I did the Y 10K today and really struggled. My time was 52:39, just about 5 minutes slower than Orrington. I did win second in my AG.
I am really exhausted today. When Jimmy got up at 3:30 to go on the boat, I just couldn't get back to sleep. Also, my legs just felt dead today. Oh well. I know every race isn't a PR race, and even though I wasn't shooting for that, I still wish I felt better about my performance. But I did give all I had, for today.
The best part of my day was going back to run in with Lori, Jean, Jane, and Tennille. They are awesome!
Congrats to everyone who raced today; Frank great to see you again.
8.13 miles total for the day.
Comparing courses like that doesn't work. Orrington is the fastest 10-k in the state and Bar Harbor is nowhere near as easy. Plus you've been training for 2 weeks after taking 2 weeks off. Just means you are where you are supposed to be and over the next couple of months you get to move forward as you get back in shape. All today was for you was a fitness indicator and a good tempo run to help get you back into shape. Of course if you can't handle it I won't allow you to run in races for 5-6 weeks after getting back into training. Use the race early in the season to improve and make steps to get back in shape. Worry about running well in your goal races later on.
Good job everyone.
Tomorrow I am going to break a record older than I am if all goes well. It's going to be tough, but if it rains like it's supposed to then I'll have a chance. If it's hot I'm going for it anyways and see if I can get myself into the top 3 times ever. I think this is the last time Skip is having the race so the record is soon to be set in stone. It better be shaking right now because I'll fight every inch of the race to get that.
I know I can't compare those courses, and I know I'm hard on myself. I seem to be in a little bit of a funk right now....nothing feels easy. This is all new territory for me, as I didn't do nearly the kind of training for MDI that I did for Sugarloaf....so I am learning as I go about training, recovery, etc. I didn't expect to feel this out of shape. And I have just been so damn tired this week.
Best of luck tomorrow....I wish I could be there to cheer you on but right after my run I have to drive CeCelia to a girls retreat at Husson. I can't wait to hear about it!!!
Are a challenge, aren't they? I never raced the 10K there, but is it more of a challenge overall than Cobscook? I wouldn't be discouraged with that time at all considering you're not back at your peak yet, Suzanne. Heck, I'm still not there yet as my times are still all over the place.
Judson, good luck in Hampden! Race route - the elevation profile is very accurate. I envision a Cobscook-like scenario with this race. If that's the case, you'll have a great shot.
Also, if anyone wants to help out at Hampden, Skip needs a few volunteers for registration and finish line. Just show up a little early if you want to help.
This record is harder than the Cobscook course but it's possible if I run my best and the weather is nice.
I can't believe how much the marathon took out of me, I'm sure you're having a similar experience. I think we're being good sports by getting out there and doing our best. Nice work, all!
Very pleased to hear about Brandy. That picture is sweet, I ALMOST got teary eyed, but I'm tough as nails so it didn't happen.
I'm looking forward to Hampden tomorrow. No watch for me!!! Just rolling with it (no pun intended:))
Team Eden and a thanks to the Hubbells for timing and results. It was great to see everyone..especially Jane, Melanie and Tennille from First Strides (all completed the 10k!) and Jean Bell back to running/racing.
So glad to hear that Brandy is safely back at home!
It was great to see everybody at the race today. I saw a lot of people with Eden shirts out there. Especially great to see the First Strides graduates who doubled their race distance today. Tennille, I loved your finish! Way to go!
I thought I did a little better last year, but when I checked the results, it turns out I actually ran a bit faster today. So, I'm happy about the PR, not so happy about my fading memory.
Thanks to Brian, Liddy, and all the other great volunteers.
Thanks everyone for your support today. I have to credit Suzanne for my finish, she ran back and found me out there and coached me into the finish line. It was great. One 10K down... let's see what else I can get myself into... Have a great day everyone!
RunScore is a very delicate program... I learned never attempt to plug in a printer while RunScore is running. Very interesting timeing a race with 3 seperate heats and one bandit! I know consider myself well trained for next year.
Adam set another CR (he now holds 2 CRs at the Milk Run). Really good showing from the Spudland Racers! Didn't have time to talk as much time to talk with everyone.
and back to Stockton to attend the town meeting.
PS - If anyone is going to Hampden 8.5 miler tomorrow and is not planning to run - Skip Howard would certainly like to have your help with a water stop. Last chance to see a great race one last time (Best seats in the house!)

[Hat tip to RK!]
Nice job PJ and Adam. New course record.
The course has changed significantly this year, so it was gonna be a course record no matter what! So close at Hampden Judson!
You still ran awesome and I'm sure your course record won't go down easily.
Get ready for the 3-k.
