Rock in Tremont
another tremont trot, but not just any old tremont trot for Mr. Cake!
Probably the first time I ran that race when it wasn't hot and humid. I think my previous best on that course was 20:50ish.
Plan today was to run the couple of miles pretty hard and get to the top of the hill at 2 miles with some time banked and then cruise on the 3rd mile which is all downhill so I could hammer the last mile. Worked like a charm. I felt really good warming up and then some strides before I felt like I was on air. The first 2 miles the weather was cold and probably 50 degrees with a fog. Last 2 miles the sun came out and it was probably low 60's, but perfect weather for a 4 miler. Ginger was great support and kept the oncoming cars out of my way by riding about 50 meters ahead of me the whole way.
Suzanne learned something today and ran really well. Big Eden crowd, nice to see everyone and everyone I talked to seemed pleased with the results.

4- 4:46.0(19:35.2)
With those sub-5's. Congratulations, and can't wait to see how you do in the Tour du Lac.
didn't feel as good as yesterday but some days you just have to GET THE WORK DONE.
When I put my helmet on this morning it was still wet with sweat from last night, the same way swimsuits are still wet when you go back for afternoon practice. The helmet felt significant, somehow.

Stroke felt really good but still babying my shoulder. Then, grocery shopping, which is really not a good idea when you're hungry.
Looks like there were some great times!
Tennille ~ ANOTHER great race!
Bob and I had some fun doing the tri-lake loop ~ another beautiful morning in paradise!
with a race in the middle. :)
I did a 50 minute "warmup", then the Tremont Trot in 31:13, then a 20 minute cooldown. I treated the race like a speed workout, and my only goal was to run it faster than last year. I accomplished that by about 2 minutes, 25 seconds, so I'm happy. Things, post marathon, are starting to get easier.
The conditions were perfect and I love that course. Congrats to everyone, but especially Judson for his awesome record breaking performance, and Tennille, for her continued grit and determination that is such an inspiration to me.
Had a great run with Julie and got to see Lou run by, Rick sporting his Eden shirt near the stables, and then Ed Ganz, Vanessa, & Henry at #6. Vanessa did EL CCW. That 2 mile stroll afterwards was pleasant too.
Nice PR as part of your workout Suzanne. Congratulations on the course record Judson. Was that a PR for you? Tenille, your ears may have been burning as we were bragging about you on our run this a.m. Sounds like you were doing great at the same time. Good job.
Life is good in the woods.
I think my official pr for 4-miles was 20:51 on the same course years ago. I have broken 20 minutes for thte first 4 miles of a flat 10-k but now it's official.
amazing times and great day - it's so much fun to see you make a PR you're looking for.
the grin on Judson's face when I asked him if he got his record was awesome.
I missed watching Tim T and Austin chase each other though! Yoo hoo, where are you two?
Hey everyone; Congrats to everyone at the Tremont race..I really missed seeing and running with everyone for sure...I had planned to come down but some things came up and I wasn't able to make it...I am hoping next saturday at Bucksport...see you all than...Congrats Judson on a great time...
Winning is always fun but PR's are still the best. Great run!
That cool fog sure makes for good running conditions.
I'm pleased with my run, particularly after running so many times around the track with Ginger yesterday. Last year's Trot was probably my best race all year, so I was surprised I managed to squeak under that time. The first three miles felt pretty good, but after the sun came out in the last mile I was wishing it was a 5k. My Garmin splits show I was a little conservative on the uphill during mile 2 but kept it steady otherwise: 6:02, 6:31, 6:03, 6:05.
There was a lot of really good Eden running out there. Of course, JC's CR time is simply mind-boggling. I saw him for maybe half a mile at the start before he disappeared into the fog.
on a great run, Mark! I'm not sure if I like Ginger hi-jacking people from my entourage, but I suppose I will let her get away with it this once! :)
Seriously, it is so great for us to have your support with workouts, etc. You have such a knack for pacing and it is so helpful. Thank you so much.
It's my pleasure to join you for workouts when I can. You're both training so well it's fun to see it first-hand.
And I still like being part of an entourage. :-)
19:35 - Cake course record Plenty - # of Eden folks racing and helping out 10:00 - time by which the race, fun run, results ceremony and clean up were completed. Thanks Brian and Nora! Two - number of families joining Eden today Three - number of EA shirts sold today Three - number of participants who missed the bus but who still managed to get to the start on time 6 3/4 - age of Colyn - a fun run participant, still well amped about his run (and the raffle) a few hours later..saw him at a breakfast spot. 14 - number of kids in the Fun Run 14 - number of kids in the Fun Run who are quite sure they are faster than you 43 - number of participants in the 4-Miler
Congrats Eden runners and Diana Novella of Harbor House for her direction of this race.
Sunday run around Verona Island.
With three of the 2008 series races completed and eight races remaining, the Eden Race Series overall and age-group leaders are:
It was neat to watch Judson do his thing. It's wierd to see how alone he really is up in the front. His quick or should I say non-existent recovery was wild to see. He's never beaten Evan on this course, now he holds the course record.
Everyone was running strong today. Great PR Suzanne, that's quite a training run you had today. Karen had an awesome race too, I think some new 5k pr's are coming her way!! Tennille finished strong too. She had that same look of determination that I saw in Suzanne last year at Unity. Mark, you're the MAN!!!
How did Liddy do in her bike race?
I had a good race, but it wasn't what I expected. My clock was wrong so I missed my start by a couple of minutes. I rode anyway and would have finished second female if I'd been on time. Some races they just note your actual time if you're really really sorry but not in Auburn. All the things I worried about weren't an issue: weather, finding the place, figuring out the right gear, not bonking on a significant hill on the course, h.r., ... That all went well.
Great job Judson! Congrats! Which record will you go after next?
I am sorry that you missed the start...what a bummer. Sounds like you still had a great race though; wish they had let you note your time. :( I am glad that everything else went great! You rock!
I wish I could have gone, now. I drove all the way to Augusta to have the other team forfeit both games of the baseball doubleheader today. (No one on their team showed up.) Ugh!
Managed to sneak it in before the impending T-storm.
A great day in Tremont today. Congrats to Judson on shattering his old time, as well as the course record.
I wasn't sure what to expect never having run a 4-mile race before. I planned on running between my 5k and 10k pace, but ended up closer to my 5k pace. I expected the first 2 miles to be uphill, but was pleasantly surprised to find the only big hill in the second mile. It's nice getting the hills over with early in the race.
Great job Tenille! I think you’ve caught the racing fever. Do I see a ½ marathon in your future?
had a really great race, Karen! Congratulations!
You had a great race/workout too! I'm impressed you ran 50 min. before racing.
Anyone up for a quick run or bike Wednesday? Heading to Frenchboro tomorrow and will be back in Bass Harbor around 11/11:30 am on Wednesday. Didn't know if anyone wanted to do a mid-day workout somewhere along the way before I head back to Tenants Harbor. I'm supposed to be doing a slow easy run and bike sprints, so let me know if either workouts are of interest to anyone.
Saturday - Waldoboro 5K 21:49 Sunday - Auburn TT 38:??
Just let me know what works for you as a meeting place. I have a few things I need to do on the island and would love to start it with a run (and maybe finish it with the track workout. : ))
4+ miles today running, and 10-15 miles biking. That's a really good course out in Tremont; I'd never done it before. I'd been told about a big hill in the second mile, so I was prepped for something far worse and so the course seemed fairly easy. Always a happy surprise. Judson did great, and was maybe even as impressive as Maggie, Nora and Annie tearing it up in the 1 mile. Nice job to all in both races.
I met a woman from NJ this morning who came to the Tremont Trot because she saw an Eden/JR race series poster at the Patagonia store. Good idea posting the race series around town.
(autumn not judson)
I said it was a good idea.
Hey everyone, thanks again for your support. It was so great to have Shannon, Suzanne, and CeCelia bring me in... without them I certainly wouldn't have gotten to the end as quick as I did. And I can't imagine how I can be an inspiration for you Suzanne... but you all are my inspiration! Thanks!
Please?
...the old Trot record was:
July 20th, 2002 1. Evan Graves- 20:19
Top times since 1998 are listed at the Tremont Trot event page
11.5 miles today 1:25.Rainy and humid in Portland at 6:49pm start.Congrats Judson on the CR!Sub 5:00 for 4 miles is insane.Nice running and biking all.
for the weekend. Great work at Tremont, everyone...Judson, you crushed it!
