Good luck racers.
So both Kyle and Thomas from Zap ran the semi final last night in the 5000 and qualified for the finals. Way to go guys.
Still not sure if Brendan is in the 1500 yet, but he's in Eugene and he should make it.
And Louis Luchini should get into the 10,000 meter race as well as Zap runner Joe Driscoll. So weird that if you're on the line between making it and not and someone ahead scratches you can get bumped into the race at the last second. I guess the pressure is off.
Bunker's out in Eugene as well watching the meet which is about a week long. He's getting ready for the Crazy 8's 8-k and his training is going great. He called yesterday and was telling me about repeat miles in under 4:30 and 1500 meter lake loops(carriage roads) in 4:11. So good luck Bunk.

Good luck today at the Tour!
With Judson and Evan pushing each other who knows what might happen. Great weather to race!
32:10, easy at Eagle Lake, warmup run, I woke up wanting to race
I'll be the first to report.
51:46, so I got a nice PR. Evan finished in second and actually had a very good runner to run with up through 6 miles. Evan ran 53:30ish.
Ginger got a big PR running 1:22 and change. Austin broke his 50+ record running 1:02, Brian had a nice long run, and Spotter beat RK. Alyie seemed to run well and everyone else seemed happy.
A nice dip in the pool after to soak.
My splits were
5:11.66 5:11.30 5:03.50 5:19.25 4:58.18 5:32.27 5:07.92 5:06.38 5:08.94 5:07.38
with 2 miles warmup and 3 cooldown that's 15 for the day.
Clappers record is solid. May be out of my range for a few years, but at least I got within a minute of it.
7:13s on that course, that's not bad for a triathlete :D
1:12:08, fast, second place female and I LOVE RACING
7:07 at the first mile and they came easily, quickly, turn your legs over, soak up the miles. I run by Ryan at 6.8 or so and wonder what's up with that, and then running down the hill roll down the hill, land under your hips my hips are sore, they were sore this morning too, and even trying to roll down the hill I feel like I'll fall flat on my face, it's that steep. The next uphill feels good turn your legs over and then we're by the lake. Mile 7 to 8 feels too long, I wonder if I've missed the mile marker and realize that I'll either see 9 and be delighted, or 8 and scream. A couple hundred yards later it's 8 and I'm too out of breath to scream. Two miles, you can run two miles and I blow a kiss to the kids at the next water stop because they're cute and I haven't blown any kisses yet, at the next turn I see that beautiful new bridge and run straight toward it (I'd love to run over it). Hang on for the last mile turns to where's the freakin' finish line and then THIS FRIGGIN HURTS, aloud, to Judson who is yelling at me trying to get me to out-sprint Ryan. I do :D and smile after at him, "you got chicked!" I'm equally mean, without thinking about it, to the girl who is third and tells me, "I just couldn't catch you." I smiled and said, "Good."
Buff told me, there's nothing wrong with honesty.
"Everbody expects me to break, but I'll never break down again. Everybody expects me to give up, but you'll never see me giving in. Everybody wants me to lose, but I'll never lose who I am. No, I'm sorry to say, there'll be no sacrifices today." -Theory of a Deadman
Awesome song. Awesome run, too.
Splits (WS = water stops): 6:24 6:52 6:48 (20:04 - 3mi PR) 7:30(WS) 6:53 (34:27 - 5mi PR) 7:35(WS) (42:02 - 6mi PR) 6:58 7:09(WS) 6:59 6:49 (69:57 - 10mi PR)
Pace was 6:59.7 per mile, just barely getting past my big goal of sub-7. In hindsight, I'm not sure I needed 3 water stops, but I did it just in case. I went out far faster than I expected but recovered adequately. For every mile I slacked off, I made sure I banked one with effort. The biggest thing for me was that 7 of my 10 miles were under 7 minutes in pace. That's a huge step for me.
And yes, I beat RK, too! Mile 6 made it interesting, as if a great jedi battle was going to take place, but I managed to stay ahead and finished very strong. In my humility, though, it was him who got me this far and helped me get ready for the course. I appreciate it, man.
Feeling great. Legs are tired as they should be. Congratulations to all the runners out there, there were some great times, and the weather couldn't have been more ideal for running 10 miles.
1mi warmup, .5mi cooldown - 11.5 on the day.
First off, congratulations to all the great performances at the Tour today! Awesome!!!!
Today's workout was right up my alley. Warmup, 12 minutes at tempo pace, 3 minues rest, 10 X 30 seconds uphill hard, 3 minutes rest, 8 minutes at tempo pace, cooldown.
My tempo pieces were meant to be at an 8:15 pace, but the 12 minute piece was 8:05 and the 8 minute piece was 7:57. I used the gradual side of Long Hill for my repeats....most of the 10 were in 6:30-7:15 pace range, except for a couple where oncoming traffic didn't leave me any room and I had to jump in the ditch while continuing on up the hill.
Todays' workout would have been much harder in the heat, so I was grateful for the cool temps.
with your workout, Suzanne. Sounds tough and it's hard dodging cars while doing a workout, I had to do the same thing on Sargent's Dr. during my workout.
...some people give you the dirtiest looks when they have to give you room! I want to shout, "I have EVERY right to be here!"
Congratulations on your PR, that is awesome!
1 m w/u, 10 miles at 8:15 pace, 2 miles c/d. Now I'm eating the blueberry jam I won:) No watch again today. Thanks, Tom! We had a nice negative split; final mile was 7:20, which is hard for me to believe. Tom thinks EL is hillier. The EL hill is harder due to it's length, but there are definitely more hills (and they're pretty darn long) on Tour Du Lac course. Thanks, Judson.
Thanks,
but you're doing all the work.
With the 10-miler sandwiched sub-anaerobically pretty much in the middle.
From my own, somewhat privileged, view of the race, I observe only that RK is a gentleman. More -- not only did he run the race, he also produced the race results, which is quite beyond my own scope for multi-tasking.
Nice homemade jam awards at the Tour this year. Sub-5 puts on events with just the right flavor.
to do that. He directed, ran, and produced results for his own run in April, which is just plain crazy for many of us.
Also, for the record, I am still a good distance away from RK at his peak form. The 2006-2007 RK would have finished and run back to mile 9 just to point the collapsed barn out to me.
I'm still not finished learning from the master.
Great runs on the Tour course! Nice work Eden. Nice workout Suzanne.
Vanessa, Becky, Bob & I walked EL this a.m. and got to see Joyce, Monty, Holly, & Dasher afterwards. Learned some great new drills to help avoid injuries, among other interesting topics. Bob & Becky are great company and running resources. I'm looking forward to the Eden group run at 8 a.m. tomorrow from EL.
Life is good in the woods.
20 on the mountain bike. SWH to Echo Lake and up Lurvey Spring Rd. Then basically a big figure 8 through Western Mt., Seal Cove, Long Pond Roads. A quick trip down to long pond and back then down to Echo Lake and home. I wouldn't recomend Seal Cove Rd. at this point, sections are very wa-wa-wa-wa-wash-b-b-b-b-boar-d-d-d-d-d-ee. Western Mt. Rd. is great, no traffic, and you can fly in the big chain ring.
Congrats to all the 10 mile racers. Hope to make it to EL tomorrow.
and I CAN'T WAIT
I am home for the weekend, off-island home that is, and mom said "I saw a 5k advertised in the paper." A couple phone calls to get details, a couple more to rope some friends into it (guilt trip on my godfather: "don't you want to come race with your goddaughter?") and... I'm racing again tomorrow :D
ZING endorphin high
I couldn't sleep last night, so while I'd pondered running TdL a hard 10 just wasn't in the cards. I ended up running an easy 8 instead--felt good, not stressful.
Congratulations to all the racers. I'm glad you had a good morning to race.
31+ mi. mostly on the beautiful newly paved(all the way) around Park Loop Road. fabulous road for cycling now, slick. I really thought i would get rained on because of those big black clouds in the sky and the strong breezes...but it hasn't rained yet.
Congratulations to all the racers and runners today.
You all are on a roll!
Nice to hear that Bob and Becky are back in the area. I suspect they'll be zipping around the track on Wednesday.
