Mainer sets new American Record.
Anna Willard from Maine set a new American record in the 3-k steeple while winning the Olympic trials. Alright Anna, I guess that break you took paid off.
how's Bunker?
Easy with Matt.
Good luck at the races.
on the track, got my legs turning over nice and quickly.
checkin' out the swim course!!! water's wicked warm, no wetsuit.
The hills are getting easier and the times are getting faster, though still a long ways off from fast. Got to see Julie & Kasch, who was telling me about blueberry pancakes in his morning (that boy is uber-cute). Ran past Bob & Becky C along the way. Vanessa was sizzling & lopped a bunch of time off of her last 5 miler. Nice walk with Bob & Becky afterwards. Beautiful morning. Happy 4th of July!
I kept it nice and easy as I have been battling a bad sore throat the past couple of days. When I run its like my throat and jaw are throbbing. I feel tired, too. I had strep for 4 months last year, and I am hoping its not that again. On a good note, my legs feel great.
Happy 4th!!!
with Bozo at LLP.
10:47, 5:47 pace. My first mile split was 5:32. I kept myself steady and strong throughout; no quick burnouts. 1mi warmup, 1.5mi cooldown (ran back to my car in Brewer). I'm feeling alright, but the legs are definitely tired.
Congrats to all the Eden runners in the race, there were some really good times in there. Happy Independence Day, everybody!
Brian ran 10:19 at the 3-k. He had some adventures on the way up. I'll let him tell the story if he wants to.
...that the Ellsworth cops were very accommodating and, thanks to Steve and Diane, I still got to the race in plenty of time.
Although it was slower than the past two years, I was happy with my finish time. Still short on speed but I was stronger than I thought, which is better than the other way around at this point in the season. It was the first road race this year where I felt I was really racing rather than just out and settling for a tempo run.
Good performances all around today, although Judson would no doubt have spiced up the field of front runners a bit today if he hadn't had to work instead.
Shannon, you did place in the 19-34 awards today. I've got your medal. Let's exchange it over beverages.
beer for a medal. : ) I'll be over asap!
[Thanks, Steph!}
fun day so far. pancakes at 6 in BHB with friends, then met up with Robin to go run Walter Hunt. Came home with hardware and 1/2 of Robin's pie. yum.
my first time doing this race.Nice weather at 7:30am start.Clear, breezy, dry around 65.I was prepared for a tough course through reading John Rolfe's Press Herald articles in the past.I also talked to a few runners before the start and asked them and everyone was the same,"yeah it's hilly go out easy",etc.I was more concerned with my usual Fairchild night shift insomnia but I did okay for this race taking a benadryl the night before and that knocked me out.I got some sleep for a change. It was indeed the toughest 10k course I've ever run.Kept the pace even throughout and that paid off.The hills are not really nasty steep more like relentless. Was happy with 38:40,good signs.Congrats to all in 3k today.
