What's your run?

16 miles

Struggled with this one through sticky, warm air.

8.50 miles....

With OJ and his son Peter. Steve C for awhile too. Great group run from jordan pond house today. Kind of warm, but everybody seemed to be happy.

It was a great group this morning!

I had Kasch, so we did a run/walk/pick blueberries/pet horses with Becky C. Tough after all the fast miles this week, but fun to have so many things to distract me!

Thank you Bonnie for the muffins! What a great surprise at the end of the run!

Unfortunately, I didn't get much stretching in at the beach ~ thanks Vanessa for doing the class!

Around the Mountain!

Sara and I started out with the group from JPH, and then she asked me if I was interested in trying to go around the mountain. I was game! This turned out to be a challenging run, but a wonderful run, too. The scenery was gorgeous, the conversation was wonderful, and we finished a tough run!

I hope Judson will forgive me cutting my scheduled miles for today down a couple; by the time we were done, my legs were begging me not to tack on any more! Thanks for a great morning, Sara!

Nice to see such a great turnout, although I missed Sue K. Hope we did not have a miscommunication about time or place.

11.09 miles for the day.

9 miles with a 9 year old

On his bike. I did make it to JPH but about 2 hours after the group run. Ran from the overflow parking lot on the road to the carriage road crossing then around JP/BP and back. 9 and change I think from where I parked the car. Lucked out with the weather as it became overcast and not so hot for such a late start.

Lots of stuff to do today, glad I got in the scheduled 9, missed all the other cool Eden stuff going on. Such is life.

13ish

Thanks to Shannon and Bob C, had a great run up Cadillac from Bubble Pond. Vanessa and Becky were ever the effective cheerleaders. Great group at JPH. Bob & I did the 8.4 mile loop, most of it with Matt H., Magnolia, & Doug.

Bonnie, the muffins were awesome! Thank you.

Had a great time in the ocean, yoga/stretch, & my personal favorite, the pot-luck. Nice meeting OJ, Peter, & Jackie today.

Life is good in the woods.

Lincoln 5K

64 finishers - Scotty Dorrity made it 2 for 2 with a 2:45 margin of victory finishing in 17:11. Hilary Maxim won the overall for women. A few regulars showed up - but it was most exciting to see so many first time racers ever participating in a road race!

No Sam Wilbur.

4+

Easy 4+ as it rained a little.

rest day

Saturday was the 2nd day in a row of two serious walks, one morning and one evening, so I decided I'd take a day off today. Rode my weird new bike with a back rest and bench seat a bit on Bayview Drive.

Vanessa, your pictures from Friday are great! I can hardly wait to see the next set!

rest day

for me too. Too much playing at the party yesterday made my bunny bite all sore again :P

14.5

Scraped my sorry body out of bed this morning (I ran hard at the track last night, but the post-race party took more out of me!) and headed to JPH with the goal to enjoy my run. And I did, starting with Doug and Kevin, then meeting up with Karen, Michelle and Beth for the bulk of the run, then running the last bit up and over Bubble to JPH pretty hard. 14.5 miles total, much more and better than I expected when I first woke up.

Then it was a very nice gathering at Seal Harbor Beach. All in all a great weekend of running and socializing--doesn't get much better than that.

I second that

Thanks to Frank and everyone who helped organize such a fun weekend.

Vanessa, your pictures are great!

12mi

in Levant/Kenduskeag this afternoon. It started pouring at mile 5 but I was close to the turnaround point so I decided that I would just complete the whole thing in spite of ten-pound shoes. Finished with 97 minutes flat, so I kept pretty close to my goal of 8 minute miles today. The route I took had some massive hills, too.

Thanks for the congrats on the Belfast race RK. I think shouting out my name in the last stretch helped me to perk up considering I was suffering from an acid attack and massive stomach cramps after the 2-mile mark. It was stupid of me to eat pizza the evening before a race...but I'm still happy with my nearly one-minute PR and looking forward to doing even better at the Fort Knox 5K. I also got two really good t-shirts out of the Celtic race, too.

Spotter

I meant to congratulate you yesterday and I didn't get to it. You are really awesome! Impressive!

Thanks Suzanne

I'm glad that the effort is really yielding the constant improvement, and I'm glad that I get to share the fruits of my labor with you guys.

Of course running this and Fort Knox next week are just primers for the big 5K: the Schaefer run which lands squarely on my 29th birthday. :)

11M

JPH w/ John, OJ & Peter to EL w/ Kev, then passing the crew doing the figure 8, finishing via Bubble. Nice soak/swim at Seal Beach followed by Vanessa's great yoga session. Bonnie's muffins were great at the end of the run. Nice seeing everyone & hopefully I see some of you in a couple weeks.

Keep running!

Half marathon course in the heat of the day while Lid dawdled along with me on a bike.

Thanks, Frank and others, for all your work on the weekend.

Loop around Sutton's..

from Seal Harbor Beach with Barry and Donna. It was great to have two folks show up to paddle although I was betting I'd be spending that hour on the beach with a cup of coffee and a blueberry muffin from the One Stop.

We were greeted by a harbor porpoise as we entered the Eastern Way. He surfaced within two boat lengths and then decided he might just stay down for a while... We paddled by the osprey nest on the tip of Sutton's (from a respectful distance) and then rounded up on the south side of the island. Little activity out there other than the mail boat chugging from Islesford to Cranberry and a few cormorants who were chasing their breakfast around in the shallows. The water was flat and the angle of the sun perfect for drifting along and studying the sea floor (6-8 feet of visibility). The incoming tide gave us a knot or two of boost as we cut back across the Eastern Way. A great day to be on the water in a paddle boat. About 6.5 miles.

Looks like we had 159 participants and volunteers in the various Run MDI Weekend Events. (I counted the track meet as one event with 31 participants/volunteers. I also included the Predicted Mile Contest, Staggered Start Tempo run and our two Jack Russell's socials in the total.) I haven't yet figured out the total miles that were run, biked, paddled, etc...but I'm sure it's a healthy number. A special thanks to all of you who led these events.

Eight people attended Lou Ingrisano's presentation yesterday on his work in Uganda with Medical Teams International and were privileged to hear how Lou's world view and personal philosophy have been shaped by these missions. I believe we'll all take his message to heart. Thank you Lou!

Bob C & Becky C did a fine job taking pictures while Vanessa was leading the stretches & yoga on the beach.

Thanks Everyone

for the compliments on the pictures and the stretches and yoga session on Seal Harbor Beach. Our 5 day festivities sure have been fun, and I hope I caught most of the highlights and smiles along the way. Please check out all the pictures on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday's Daily Logs to see yourselves in action. I know the memories will carry us through till we can do it all over again next year. I ran 2 miles in the Jordan Pond area down the Jordan Stream in between taking pictures on Cadillac Mountain, Jordan Pond House and the Fun Run at Little Long Pond. It was a great day in Eden.

Wonderful pictures!

Thanks for capturing all the Weekend's events so well, Vanessa.

Beautiful pictures!

You did so well capturing all the fun we were having!

I must say, Bob, Shannon, & Bob sure make running up Cadillac look effortless!

And another Bob!

Bob Bachorik and I traipsed up the mountain with Don as our pit crew as the big group headed out from Jordan Pond House. I should have brought my own camera to take some photos on the fly, but they would have been far inferior to Vanessa's pics. Fun weekend, and we were rewarded with lots of beautiful running days!
