What's your run?
felt so nice and cool at my house, then I got to the lake and just struggled with the whole run - hot and humid.
I never congratulated you yesterday! I was thrilled when I read your post....how exciting! Your improvements are just mind boggling. Awesome work!
Nice work, I'll fight it out with you at Machias. I'm so excited now that B2B is over, it was the longest race I'm doing in August and now I can drop my mileage from 60-65 a week down to 50. The lower I get the faster I seem to get. I think the last 6-7 years I've averaged close to 95-100 per week for each year. This summer I may have gotten into the 70's a couple of times, but mostly 60-65 miles a week.
Wow it's rainning out now.
Oliver is sick. I hope to get back on track this week. Having a low mileage week is a good thing. I'm glad I can let go and relax when things come up. Maybe I'm not a running freak after all! I just won't eat for a week:):)
with an entirely new definition of "distance", having spent several humbling hours yesterday working at an aid station for the Burning River 100 Mile Endurance Run. The runners came through our station twice, at mile 56 and again at 60. Some of them looked so fresh, like they were just out for an easy few miles with friends. Others not so much, but the determination and (amazingly!) good humor was universal across the board. Not one among them, not even the most bedraggled of the bunch, offered a whine nor a whimper. They shuffled in, gently and appreciatively made their needs known, chatted and even joked a bit while they topped up their tanks, then shuffled out the other end, with dusk looming and "only" 40 more scrambly trail miles to go.
Very, very cool.
are certainly a different breed! It's amazing how friendly, humorous, and supportive they are no matter how many miles they have under their belt! My "50K" was at the top of the list for fun long distance running events!
16 miles
Oliver, hope you feel better!
Chris, that does sound very cool. :)
11 with friends though. Ran from home to Eagle to hook up with the 8 am crowd. I ended up doing the tri-lake 11 with Frank, Shannon and Bob. I didn't do too well matching their pace falling behind, specially on the up-hills. I got my break at the top of Jordan where they stopped at the bridge for undone laces I think. I picked up my pace and pushed down the big hill next to Eagle. It felt much better to be the chased rather then the chaser.
Great morning and company for the 11 (& Kev defied all attempts to close the gap despite having run 5 more miles!). Good to see Julie, MarkW, & Doug for the beginning of our run, Amy N. out doing speed work with Ander, Vanessa (8 miles!)at the end and OJ & Peter heading out for their own adventure. Life is good in the woods.
Just to make Bob feel better. :)
Ran WHP plus PH and a little more early, then joined up with the group for a pleasant Eagle Lake--Kevin, Shannon, Bob and Frank peeled off at Bubble while Doug, Julie and I took the shorter route. We ran nice and easy after last week's unplanned pickup.
you're a nut!
...it's your fellow club members.
I'm just the occasional secretary and postman.
just to get out for a bit.
Keep running!
I had a goal for BtoB but began feeling awful around 3 miles.I went out hard and could not back it up.I found the humidity and air quality to be as bad as I've ever experienced doing this 10k.Good thing for the cloud cover or it would have been truly miserable.I decided to change my strategy, drop the pace, and run the remainder of the race as a workout and enjoy the event. There are plenty of races left this year to chase goals.Great seeing Brian afterwards.Hopefully next year he will do the race. The ability to grab a spot in this 10k is turning into an event in itself.Great running yesterday everyone and congrats Spotter on the win.
around Bangor once the lightning moved out. Thanks everyone for the congratulations and look forward to seeing most of you at the Schaefer 5K - which lands on my 29th birthday. :)
