Get up and run, no excuses.
First loop around eagle lake with Brian in around just under 41 minutes, second loop in 33:45 doing my least favorite workout of 7,6,5,4,3,2,1 minute pieces with half jog rests. Made in around the lake and then up and over Eagle lake hill coming back into town durinng the workout. Jogged a couple of miles for a cooldown.
Not a planned workout, but I felt good so I ran hard. I really took the jogs easy so I could push the hard pieces a bit more.
My Lewiston co-worker, Dan Works, finished 268th (18th in 45-49) with a time of 39:56, reaching his goal of sub-40 in the race this year. Congratulations to him!
along the riva. I'm planning on running the 6@6 on Friday.
Keep running!
10 miles running, acting like I belonged on the cover of Runner's World and 4 miles walking. Ya, it wasn't pretty.
in Bangor with RK. 79:40
This puts me at over 1,000 miles running this year.
Great run and congratulations for the OA win this weekend.
I haven't commented much, but it's been a lot of fun to follow your quickening pace. You have progressed an incredible amount in the last 5 months and also seem to have an almost uncanny sense of when to ease off and stay healthy. Keep up the good work!
and it's actually surprised me how fast I've been upping my pace in these races. The miles per week and speed work help but it's crazy to think that back in January (Belgrade 4.5-miler) I broke 8 minutes in pace for the first time ever. Now I plan to try and break 6 minutes on a 5K on my 29th birthday, just 7 months later.
I have RK to thank for the majority of it. Yes, he insists it was me that found it in myself to run and get to this point, and I agree to a point, but on every run or every running conversation I have with him he give me advice or teaches me about some little 'running thing' that keeps me mentally focused and disciplined and allows me to push myself just a little bit further each time. I always said that I could really do something spectacular in my life if I got a little push in that direction and some advice along the way, and he's done just that. He's been the perfect coach for me, and I hope it continues (as well as my time improvements).
schooled some kids on third street by running backwards. Spotter has run a great past 24 hour circut getting in 21 miles (I like to round down!)
Nice and dry and no hills in the living room! :)
recently there is a conversion chart someplace for bike miles? I'd like to be able to put numbers in the Edenometer.....
chart here: www.drmirkin.com/fitness/8841.html
Suzanne, I believe it's a 3:1 conversion. So, a 9 mile bike converts to a 3 mile run.
the conversion chart from Dr. Mirkin's site to our Edenometer welcome page. Thanks for the link, Bruce!
felt good, passed a family of bikes. Good Job Spotter on your race! Good job to all the B2Ber's too.
Becky O'K reports that she has received over 70 applications so far. It's always a great event and afterwards you can take a spin through the Winter Harbor Lobster Festival
With the on-again, off-again downpours it was an easy decision to hit the gym today. Did some decent rowing and 3 ez miles on the mill to shake out the 20-mile weekend. Felt a little logy but my legs feel good.
Mid morning around the lake. Lots and Lots of bicycles but not many runners. After the run I took my bike over the breakneck road from the EL to Hulls Cove then up to the park vistor center and back on the carraige roads. Halfway up breakneck road I hopped over a log and the back wheel slipped, I came down hard on my seat, and my butt broke the seat. Broke one of the little rails that attach the seat to the post. I kinda listed to port for the rest of the ride:)
Now I need a new saddle and all I could find on this island were "comfort" saddles, big fat wide squishy ones. I like comfort, but that's not what I need to go fast on a bike:(
nice and dry for a switch.I'm done cross-training at Fairchild for now so my work schedule is earlier which means my runs are in daylight once again. The knee post surgery and running on trail in the dark is awkward at best.Good luck Spotter with the sub-6:00 goal. That's a nice threshold in the sport to break.
