What's your run?
felt like it's supposed to. New outfit, and Aerosmith on the ipod
:)
Enjoyed the WH/PH loop with Shannon and Zoe, which included a couple of scenic overlooks and a blueberry break just past Duck Brook Bridge. Got to see Craig & JoAnne along the way and Vanessa (4 miles at EL) met us near the finish. Life is good in the woods.
worth of make-believe hills in the basement, kept indoors by thunderstorms.
51:21. Hey Ryan, I actually found 5 cents!
in case you are trying to be clever... I think they call it a deposit. got to now turn it in before you get the nickel.
Over near Litle Long Pond with Autumn. Sunny over on that side.
I think I might have a new PR around the lake, but I was not wearing a watch so I can't be sure. My calculations are based on looking at my cell phone at 8:54, going to the bathroom before starting, finishing the run, walking back to the landing, taking a photograph for a family, adding up the times of the three complete songs I heard over the walk/strech/photo session after being shocked when my cell phone said 9:57 when I got back in my car. Now, I am not sure it was really a new PR, but certainly faster than my normal 9:30 pace.
5 with Ginger yesterday. A few 3 or 4 mile runs and Zurich and lots of hiking last week. Great trip. Nice to be home.
Lots of cats out and about.
Karl Melzer left Katahdin Summit this morning, heading south with the hope to set a new running record on the AT. The current record is 47 days, 13 hours and 31 minutes held by Andrew Thompson of New Hampshire, only slightly quicker than a previous record held by MDI's own Pete Palmer. Track Karl's progress live at whereskarl.com
his first log entry; a goal of 41 miles, I'd say that he probably hasn't spent much time analyzing Dr. Mirkin's bike/run conversion chart yet.
Now there's a big kickoff to a long run. Not much time in there for the mandatory blueberry picking breaks I associate with hiking. Bob and I did 6+ today which felt like a perfect distance, and left plenty of time for a nature-provided snack.
Going to get that record someday.
But good luck Karl, my only advice is when you feel good keep going.
Starbucks is missing the boat by not having a store at every mile marker on the AT. The AT is one of the longest streets in America and they don't have a store on it. Just think of the possibilities -- 2,174 stores!
That's 2,174 cups of coffee at $1.79 a cup, WOW.
Maybe by the time I do it they will have those put in. What a huge advantage.
pigfarm-picnic area loop. Nice weather out there! Lot's of campers at seawall.
Great Meadow Loop with a good group of Tigers. Then Stratheden, Sieur de Monts loop on my own.
The George Schaefer Memorial Road Race has since 2002 served to fund a scholarship established by the family of George Schaefer and the Sumner High School Boosters. George, a well known youth coach, touched the lives of countless young people across all seasons in the greater Sullivan area. The first few years that the scholarship was awarded it allowed a Sumner High X-C runner to attend a running camp at Colby. Over the years the scholarship has expanded and it now provides a $500 award to both a male and female scholar-athlete from Sumner to assist them in their pursuit of collegiate studies.
On the bike trainer. spin, spin, spin...
