What's your run?
49:24 total, with 2 mi @ 6:50 pace. I was going to do more 2 mi repeats but my Achilles tendon feels a bit tweaked (I blame this on running on a Woodway treadmill yesterday - they're very soft but seem to work the calf muscles differently) so give me points for holding back a bit this morning.
Good legs this morning, purrrr
Cake victorious in Labor Day 5-Miler, BDN
Enjoyed a great 8m with Shannon & Zoe. Got to see Vanessa, Julie, & Kasch afterwards. Even got to see John S on our post-run walk. Rock Star moments were had with hugs from Kasch and Zoe before departing. Vanessa did 4 miles to Duck Brook. Life is good in the woods.
what you all looked like before this run! A beautiful run this am with Bob, and then we met up with Vanessa and Julie/Kasch and saw John heading out. Sadly we missed the 8:15 group entirely. I'll sprint on the island next time to see more running faces. Nice job to all the racers over the weekend!
A couple miles Saturday, 2ish on Sunday and another two on Monday. All in different places but all short and sweet.
felt really good to be back in the college fishbowl. Shoulder hurt a bit during the swim but the pain is gone now. Looking forward to getting a stroke critique.
Phyics lab now :P it says 2pm-5pm on my schedule, I really hope it doesn't last three hours.
What a great Labor Day weekend and congrats to all for some strong racing. My last run was a beautiful 20-miler on Sunday in Biddeford with the southern Maine boys. Ran around Hills Beach and the Pool.
back to running again. Things just get in the way sometimes. Felt great. Sometimes I forget how good running makes me feel. Echo lake-lurvey spring loop. Good Job all you racers! And thanks to the Hubbell family for the great Katahdin pictures.
9 miles out and back on the lake stretch with the last 5 miles progressive. I went from an 8:54 pace in mile 5 down to a 7:14 pace in mile 9. I'm happy with it.
I must admit I was having motivational issues doing this at 4pm after working today, but I did it. :) My medium long runs have been shorter than they should be, but I have a crazy schedule the next two weeks and I hope it will get better after that.
1/4 mile walking cooldown.
15 long, slow miles on the Newbury Neck Road with Judson.
Well, true, Judson didn't run quite that far, but he did get done a whole lot quicker.
Also Judson's experimenting on me with a few recovery strategies he's picked up from observing Austin. For example, we stopped at Burger King on the way home this evening.
Austin likes McDonalds, but Burger King is close enough I hope, although like Brian said it's an experiment.
Got in 14 in 85 minutes. First 4 miles were easy, next 4 were about 5:35 pace, next 4 a bit faster than that. Final 2 were easy. Nice road,
Burger King hit the spot. Just what growing boys need. Must say, most of the people in there shouldn't be eating that stuff, but distance runners should once in a great while. Fastest and cheapest way to get a few thousand calories in after a run.
around Cape Jellison after a meeting in Lewiston. A case of too many in the car... not enough on the roads.
Long Run today on the carriage roads. EL CCW then under the bridge to WHP+PH loop then back under the bridge and around EL CW. I was spent at the end. First time since I started this marathon training that I honestly felt like I couldn't run another mile. Makes me nervous.
I did get to see Julie chasing Kasch by the bridge and a run by Bob, Vanessa, Shannon and Zoe. What a difference a day makes, hundreds of people on the trails yesterday, today only a couple dozen or so.
with your mind! You're a strong runner and you'll have no problem with the marathon. We all have these days!
I had a 20 miler before MDI and a 19 miler before Sugarloaf that both made me feel just like you explained, and I still ran great races. This is perfectly normal. Remember, you will race MDI with rested and tapered legs, and don't forget about race day magic. You'll be great!!!
For the encouragement. I'm feeling back to normal today. Plan on a little bike ride this AM. I know we all get to those points in training, ups and downs, good and not so good. Me being new at these distances it was just weird bonking with no attributable reason on a training run, i.e. I had a good night sleep, I ate breakfast, I brought water with me, I sucked down some gels, it wasn't hot out, my ipod held it's charge, my new shoes felt great, etc...
In the plus column: Another distance PR for me! Two more to go not counting the marathon.
with the brakes on. This was more about shaking out the cobwebs than about training, so I consciously slowed myself down a few times out there.
DeLaney and I will be at EL tomorrow around 9:30 if anyone wants to join us for an easy run around the lake.
Shannon, hope you can make it....I forgot to call and now it's getting late.
came by tonite and worked on our computer and now it runs as fast as he does now if he could do something with my right foot !!!
