Hey, Eden
2:16:55
Treadmill, 1% incline, feelin' like a star.
GUPPY BURN!
600 w/u 4 x 100 on 1:30 3 x 200 on 3:00 2 x 300 on 4:15 1 x 400 on 5:30 4 x 100 on 1:25 10 x 50 on :50 easy 10 x 50 k/sw breast
If it can cramp it will: calves, arches where you feel the water on whip kick, the tender spot on the inside of my hip (hip flexor insertion, and breaststroke's fault, again.) The hip adductors I felt, love the way you feel the contractions through breaststroke kick...
Yeah I'm feeling good.
I'm glad you're feeling so good, but that seems like too many miles so close to race day. Please take care of yourself.
I'll probably see you Sunday morning before the start. Get some rest!
I'll be ok. I'm 21, I recover quickly :D plus I'm getting a massage tomorrow. Rest of the week will be light, or I'll catch hell from the Arizona tri coach for running more miles than I'm supposed to.
Found out that Jeff Hunt, one of the guys in charge of the fitness center here, is doing IM Arizona in November. AWESOME, he's a good athlete, so cool... made me miss ed pms very much, three years ago he was getting ready for kona and had talked me into my first tri.
Off to foam roll. The shelled feeling is starting to set in. Send k rations and lucky strikes ;-)
...tell you why he was having you do a 135 minute mid-week run only a few days after giving you the material science lecture about repetitive stress?
Just curious about what the training effect was that he's after in this situation.
neither of which is actually coaching me. The Arizona tri coach said (after last week :P) no more than 45 mpw. *I* chose to run long today (my legs felt good)
don't worry, Judson's going to try to help me sort out all the crazy things in my head. Lucky him!!!
Back to working on my thesis
traditional training programs and try Governor Palin's.
Katie Couric asked: It's quite well known, Governor that you run for exercise. How far do you run every day?
Well, you know Katie, we Alaskans, not just me, keep ourselves in great shape, because, you know, it’s imperative that we can all run when, you know, we have too, because, it’s only a matter of time before President Putin fires off one of them missiles, and, where do you think it’s going to land first, Katie? No, not in Washington D.C. or New York or Sarasota. No, you’re right, Katie, it’s going to be Ketchikan or Wasilla, which is why we Alaskans are so focused on improving the overall quality of health care in America.
...from the top of our hill, you can see Grand Manan. But, you know Bruce, I slept better knowing that Captain Barna was also keeping a vigilant eye on those pesky Canadians whenever they reared their little puffin-lovin' heads.
If elected, I promise Ambassadorships and Cabinet positions all around.
:-)
...you're not recovering. You're not listening to your body as it's telling you to back off a little and let it heal. It's great that you felt awesome, but why risk that feeling by running 17 miles? Especially with a race so close? 10 miles would have more than sufficed, especially with the additional swim workout. Now you say you're feeling "shelled".
I've been to the land of excess (also in my 20's when I "recovered quickly") and I continue to pay the price for it on a daily basis. I wish I'd known then what I know now, but since I didn't, perhaps some of what I and a lot of others on this board learned the hard way can help you and others.
You post for a reason...please let us help.
I need it. :)
John S., thinking of you! Have a great long run. Then, its taper time!
for September:
Run- 135.15 Bike- 27.19 Abs- 3000 Pushups- 1500
After MDI recovery, I think I would like to run 5 days a week instead of 4. The restaurant where I work is closing Oct 19th to winterize, and then we will be open all year, but on a limited winter schedule. I shouldn't be working much at all and would like to bump up my mileage a bit...we will see what happens.
Off to work, have a great day Eden!
run - 204.4 mi swim - 55,000 scy bike - 6 hrs yoga - 4 hrs water run - 2.75 hrs ellipse - 0.75 min
and LOTS of time on the foam roller.
Run - 143 Bike - 27 (lame) Spin - 4hr30min on the bike trainer
maybe I'll have one more shot a week at connecting with you for a run. Seems like forever!
Seven bridges and Eagle lake with Brian and Matt. Then I ran back to Bar Harbor and around a little.
Lots of Edenists out and about this morning.
3.3 awesome miles in good company. Today was the first day in a few weeks my lungs felt clear and light, yay! Couldn't ask for better timing! 4 mile MP run tomorrow, looking forward to it.
Same as Ginger. We're only running half the usual amount of time, so we get to talk twice as long when we're done. This morning are group consisted of 9 chatty women, 3 dogs, and Bob. Poor Bob, he can't get a word in :)
and think of the butterfly legs.
Nice to hear from you - glad you're healthy and well.
Just bopping about EL on a beautiful morning with good company. Got to see Julie, Rebecca, Amy, Karen, Ginger, Sara, Vanessa, Holly, & Marian. Life is good in the woods.
Ran from my house up to the loop road, over Duck Brook and around Witch Hole. My knee was hurting when I reached the hill leading down to the visitor's center, so I walked the remaining mile home. It would probably be good to get in the habit of using that mile as a cool down since it's such a steep decline anyway. I hope you all have a great day!
OUCH! SWH to Somesville and back, twice. 3:05:02. Thought it would be good to do some of the MDI Course. What a reality check. The pavement really beat me up. My feet hurt, my joints hurt, my legs hurt, etc... Wow!
Rest tomorrow. All in all it was an OK Run but definately did not leave me feeling like a star like Alyie's 17 today.
Thanks Suzanne for the vibes.
Taper time! :)
headed to CT tomorrow - so it was the last run with scotty-dog before the big dance on Sunday.
RK..Good luck at the dance on Sunday!
mill dam loop. Good job John S. that's a hard run. There's something to be said for training on the pavement.
Got to run AB/7B & the East side of EL for a beautiful afternoon run with Shannon, Zoe, & Adria. It is hard not to feel lucky that we get to live here. Speaking of good fortune, we saw Roxie, Amanda, & Jeanie after their runs.
John S, good job on that long run. Pavement is definitely tougher on you, but it should help prepare you for MDI's 26.
JulieJohn, great idea on that last mile - the downhills are usually toughest on sore knees.
Life is good in the woods.
I got to run 6 with Bob, on a truly beautiful day in such a beautiful place. And Vanessa had sent us off with brownies for sustenance!! Adria ate mine while I wasn't looking... good thing I love her.
Good luck to all of you heading into (or already into the full swing of) taper madness. May it all get channeled into great runs for everyone!
"The harder you work, the harder it is to quit"
Perfect phrase to remember with all the marathons coming up!
Not too late to sign up and/or to participate as an Eden team. There is some information about the event on our Calendar listing for Sunday, October 5th. More information is available at the Library and at Harbor House.
A few easy on East Eagle this morning. I saw Karen, Julie, and Ginger as they were coming back in. They looked relaxed, tapered, and ready.
It looks like several Eden folks will be at the Maine Marathon on Sunday. I hope I see some of you there! It's my first marathon so I've got one heck of a case of the nerves. Looking forward to seeing some of you on the big day!
And I think you've picked a good course for a first marathon. The weather is looking pretty favorable at this point...but don't drive yourself crazy checking it all week.
So how many folks do we have in the Maine event? 9 or 10 in the marathon..maybe 3 or 4 in the half, plus a few pacers. That seems like a good crowd. The Mr. Bagel there in Falmouth (just off the course) is awesome. Perhaps that is another discussion..
Awesome! Can't wait to hear about it! Have a GREAT marathon!!!
I had no idea you were racing this weekend in portland. Have fun! MDI will be my first marathon and I'm nervous as well. Let us know how it goes from the newbie prospective, I'd love some advice or thoughts on the experience.
41 miles on the road bike.
I haven't been too motivated and have a few cares weighing on me, so it hasn't been a great stretch of running for me lately. Then on an easy 6 miler on Saturday my left knee began hurting for some annoying reason, giving me another reason to blow off running for a couple more days. Today I got out for a short Schooner Head excursion, and while I love the new path my knee still complained a bit at the end, so we'll have to see how it pans out.
Best wishes to the tapering soon-to-run Maine marathoners and half marathoners. I hope it's a great day in Portland on Sunday.
(((hugs)))
The cares that were weighing on me finally seem to be lifting, and I am hoping the same for you...
