run: 6 mi bike: 1:45 on the trainer
I saw Mike Bunker ran 9:15 for the 3000 steeple down at M.I.T. on Sunday for 2nd place. He must be back in New England for good.
great time. Good job Mike
Since Ms D can't run with us today, is there any chance of running earlier? 4:30 would work better for me....
I can make it between 4:30 and 5 depending on meetings here...would that be ok?
DeLaney and I will arrive around 4:45 or so. The late running start just makes an even later supper time....I am trying to get better at eating at a decent hour. :)
1000 yds this morning...in a rush since I was late to the pool.
I gather you are training for a tri or else you really like to cross train. Assuming I am right, what are your racing plans?
I'm signed up for NOrway Tri on July 11...we'll see how that goes. Actually, though, I'm amazed at the strength and power coming along with this cross-training for me. For example, I had a tight lower calf after the hill running yesterday, but I swam this morning, and it's all gone. What are your plans? sadly, I'm off on travel Friday and won't be back till July 6, but after that, I hope you can come down and we can ride/run/swim Echo lake.
I am leaning toward doing Norway. Let know if you are planning an open swim anytime soon
I'll let you know. btw, Norway's closed...limit of 125 it turns out, but I registered a while ago when I thought it was in Newport [well, it starts with N...]. Maybe they have a late breaking wait list. I think we will start open swim / Echo Lake after the 4th.
I found out Norway was closed when I tried to sign up. Keep me posted on the open swim.
Didn't get too soaked.
Thanks for the report Steve. Sounds like a good race.
8 last night. The last 3 today were tough, felt like the end of a marathon (well, not quite.) Back in training. Heading down to Steamtown again, I think. I think I can PR on that course, 5 hrs last time. I'll have more respect for a downhill marathon this time around.
Thanks to Becky and Bob I can run Tour Du Lac this weekend. They're coming along and watching my sweet little angels. Thanks guys!!!!!!
You got any extra room in your car? TDL is on my race calendar.
I'd love to have you join us. The van is filling quickly, I'll be in touch! I have kids and babysitters coming, that's why I"m not sure if I have enough room.
I am also going to the race, and would happily carpool.
Plenty of options. I can drive, was just looking for a way not to drive there by myself at way to early in the morning (for me anyway).
I was working by the end, and it took me an hour. All I could think was that Dave did over ten hours of solid hard work for that Ironman. The more I consider that event the more heroic I think the people who accomplish it are. Nice job, again, to you Dr Dave. Very inspirational. Best of luck to Mary and Judy in their halfs coming up. A half is still twice what I can wrap my head around. : )
I swam a little bit last week in honor of all you tri folks and almost drowned. A very funny and humbling feeling. : )
John S tell me when your next hill workout is... I know you live near a brutal hill that's just calling our names for a speed session!
on a hill workout might kill me. I saw a shirt the other day on the "that which doesn't kill you makes you stronger" theme but this one said "That which doesn't kill you hurts real bad". That's kinda how I look at hill workouts. Shannon, Mark, just hill runs for the next couple of weeks then some workouts. That jaunt down to the point is on my hurt list.
Ran toward Schooner Head today, but just didn't feel the muse so turned around and settled for 4. Also some light weights--an oxymoron but accurate.
Hey, John S's brutal hill used to be my turf! There's nothing like instant anaerobic withdrawal to make you feel alive.
Run 1: 3 misty miles with CeCelia in BH this morning, partially on the Great Meadow Loop which I haave never been on, and really enjoyed.
Bike: 6 miles in the dry, non hilly living room.
Run 2: 6 rainy miles with Judy and DeLaney at EL. It was one of those runs where you were really grateful to have great company! Judy, ice that calf and really looking forward to running with you again soon. DeLaney had a weather shield, and stayed nice and dry with her apple juice and graham crackers. What more could a girl want?
Great day!
just now, damp, occasional rain, and encroaching darkness. Glad I got it in. Summer break and Daddy Day Care duties will make these evening runs more the norm for me. When does school start again? :)
In the summer I usually run in the evenings, as I work late a lot. If you don't mind slowing down a bit every now and then it would be fun to run together :)
with Suzanne and Delaney. thanks for the company you two...I have much more fun running in the rain when I have company. i've been icing my calf, so much for swimming out the injury. still, it didn't hurt swimming. I will have to be careful with the running for the moment.
Sorry I had to bail on EL today, as it turned out I had to schedule another client after my Stonington one, so I didn't finish work 'til 7! Hopefully we can figure something out for next week.
Around Day Mountain and Seal Harbor.
Smoothest run in many moons. Paused around mile two to see an absolutely enormous sodden porcupine who was rooting among the coping stones. Started at 8:10 and finished almost after dark. A long time coming, hopefully the start of running well again.
