Runners Beat the Heat In Southwest Road Race

Seventy-two runners shrugged off the heat Saturday afternoon and lined up to run 6.2 miles in the fifth annual Southwest Harbor road race. Starting at the Pemetic School the races sprinted to Manset, around to shore road and back into town, ending at the Pemetic finish line.
Mike Swanson of Trenton led the pack, finishing in 33:01. Mike Westphal of Northeast came in second with a time of 33:48 and Peter Swanson of Trenton finished third with 34:04. The first female finisher was Robin Emery of Lamoine with a time of 39:05. Danielle Mooney was the second female finisher with a time of 42:18 and Susan Elias of Somesville finished third with 42:27.
