Greppin, Luchini take Mum Run honors

BAR HARBOR- Ripley Greppin, of Concord, N.H., took the women's division while 13-year-old Louie Luchini of Ellsworth won the men's at Saturday's second annual Mum Run 5-k. the event was organized by the Mount Desert Island YWCA and sponsored by Don's Shop and save.
Placing behind Greppin in the women's group were Rae Chalmers of Manset in second and Joan Merriam of Bucksport in third. For men, Paul Connor, of Otis, was second while Ellsworth's Rob Jordan placed thrid.
The race drew 48 runners and proceeds from the event will go toward the YWCA's summer children's programs. :It went very well despite the fact that it was raining," said organizer Cas Dowden. A list of the finishers follows.
