I lived in Manset from 1988-2002. Honey the Wonder Dog and I used to run from our house on Seawall Rd. to Wonderland, every chance we got. Her favorite parts of the outing were chasing the ducks at Seawall and a good soak at the Manset town dock followed by handouts from the fishermen before we headed home. My favorite was hearing the rocks rolling in the surf at Seawall, before I could see the water, running at night in a thick fog when I could smell, taste, feel and hear the ocean but never catch a glimpse. Honey is now 14, I have to carry her up and down stairs and run with humans. Still, the joy of running on Mount Desert Island, with my golden retriever, day after day, the same out and back, through all kinds of weather is with me on every run no matter where I am.
In 2005 I ran my first and second marathons. I plan to add 2 a year for as long as I am able.
